Is it easy to slide the curtain with these curtain hooks or are they very tight?

I would say if anything they may be a little too loose. The slide easily but have a tendency to jump off the curtain rod if you pull too quickly.

It's hard to tell from the picture, is the dispenser brushed nickel?

No it is not! Still super cute tho..

Why do many reviews say the smell of soap dispenser is terrible? I want to purchase 3 of these but now uncertain.

I didn't experience the smell others spoke of. However, a lot of the soap leaks out of the pump in two places. I don't recommend buying this. I'm almost ready to throw it away.
