I am somewhat disappointed in the function of this item. The build quality is solid & I love the color screen that is easy to read & let's you know what is normal/borderline/high based on color, but there has been 1 major & consistent flaw. This item claims to deliver an accurate temperature in as little as 8 seconds. I have tried on NUMEROUS occasions to get an accurate temperature on my son using the rectal temperature as this is the most consistently accurate temperature method for newborns. This thermometer is NOT 8 seconds. I have waited over 30 seconds, & this thing is still reading. I have reviewed the instructions, googled information on this product, & have seen a NUMBER of issues with the consistency of these quick read thermometers. Every now & then, the product works as expected, but there has been no consistency with this product. However, if I have the time & patience, the thermometer gives an accurate temperature, but I often wait up to a minute or must restart the thermometer in order for the thermometer to complete it's reading/cycle. I would save my money & get a better product, & I often use my Braun forehead thermometer. If that reading is high or borderline, then I will use this rectal thermometer to verify. Again, if there wasn't this one fatal flaw, I would highly recommend this item.

Had to revise my previous review after using it for a number of months, and it turns out this thermometer SUCKS. It has ONE job, which is give me an accurate temp reading on my Baby with the quickness. But it confuses speed with quality, so it’s consistently LOW. Cross referenced with other thermometers that take longer to get the reading, this thermometer is off by 1.5 - 2 degrees. When you’re hovering around 100 degrees, that’s a HUGE difference. Therefore I can not recommend this product, unless you’re totally cool with not knowing whether your baby’s temperature is only elevated, or if you should call the doctor.

I think I will try to contact the company, the product boasts a 5 year guarantee... I was happy with it when it was working!*updated to 5 stars. The seller contacted me shortly after I left the above review. They sent me a new one free of charge shortly after and we've used it for over a year off and on when our son is sick and it's a dream. Works in the middle of the night EASY and quick. And I feel like I can trust the temp it gives me. I will buy this again when this one finally poops out. Looks like we just had a faulty lemon. So nice of the seller to stick behind their product!! Thank you!

I'm overall pleased with this thermometer purchase. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I've tested it out a few times and it's accuracy and consistency is very reasonable. I've seen some complaints about it being in Celsius, however if you google the thermometer you can find directions to switch it to Fahrenheit on their website. It's really is easy. When the thermometer is off simply hold down the power button for 5 seconds. The thermometer will turn on and once you see the C flashing push the powers button once for Fahrenheit. After that it stays.So far so good!

I'll add to the reviews here that this seems to be a great product. It being dishwasher safe is a statement of its build quality. Very well designed. You can actually hear the beep, the display is huge, reading is very quick, seems fairly accurate and precise, even down to where when you pull it from the protective case you naturally press the button that turns it on. I had a different thermometer that was about half the price of this one which was junk. Good buy.

What can I say, other than you are buying this to stick into a baby's butt. It worked for us, but the temperature was off a little. We have two rectal thermo that we alternate when the other is being sterilized.Does the job otherwise. Just make sure you have a backup because with a baby, that one degree can make the difference between a ER visit or waiting to see the doctor

I got about 3 different thermometers when I had my baby and this one is by far the easiest to use and the most accurate. I usually take my daughters temperature under her armpit.

I really like this thermometer. I previously used a Safety 1st thermometer and it gave errors all the time. This one works like a charm, is fast and has the color coded backlight to easily say whether or not there is a fever. I find this helpful when trying to take a temperature in the middle of the night.
