All Sam needs is time! I loved this book set!
I loved this volume 1. It was a wonderful mix of humor, sass and relationship drama, and in the center of it all was one man - Jory Keyes. It was amazing to see how everyone, man or woman, cleaved to Jory. He has something about him that attracts everyone's attention and affection. He is so irreverent it's adorable. His enthusiasm is contagious and inner monologue is very amusing. I loved him. He knew who he was and was unapologetic. This book was suspenseful, action-packed, full of hilarity and had only one POV, Jory's. I would consider 3 relationships as the focal point of these 2 books.1. Dane Harcourt and Jory Keyes. These two men are so different but they work so well together. Jory just gets Dane with all his quirks and sharp angles, he loves him for who he is. And Dane is such a character - half the time I was amused, the other half I was mildly irritated. But in the end the moments they had were touching and very heart-felt. They created a family of their own as brothers.2. Jory and the world. There are so many side characters that zip through Jory's life - it's almost a revolving door. I loved that he didn't have any hang-ups about somebody being different or rich, he just accepted them and was always so affectionate. I loved his simple views on things, his forgiveness and his fearlessness that could at some point have been considered naivete or even luck.3 Jory and Sam Kage. This is interesting. Many would consider Sam a complete a$$wipe, and I agree that he did have those moments. But the most amazing fact was that Jory loved him as is - possessive, domineering, bossy and aggressive. He got off on it, he felt cared and loved while both Dane, his brother, and Sam, his lover, told him what to do and generally ordered him around. And it suited Jory just fine. Even though the relationship was on and off, I loved them when they were together. Sam on his own was rough around the edges but with Jory he came into his own and became gentle, and he was more amenable and a better man.The ending was a bit odd, but I guess it takes a lot of courage to come out and not be scared. And for all of his tough exterior Sam is just a man with all of the ingrained social norms that he grew up with that he now must challenge in order to be the man he wants to be. I think what he needs is time. So we will see how long it takes him in the next book. Can't wait to read it! I loved this story and highly recommend it!

A Matter of Time Vol 1
This book has me conflicted. It just wasn’t good, yet somehow it was addicting and kept me reading. The plot was all over the place, the characterization was one-dimensional with a lot of characters acting really similar or in odd ways that just felt weird, and the dialogue was just…strange and stilted. However, there is also a bizarre charm to Jory and I think that’s what kept my attention. I also had to keep reminding myself that this book was written over ten years ago because some things and concepts were pretty dated. Overall, I’m not sure how to recommend this book, but I did end up reading book 2, so there is that. The audiobook was narrated well and the production was well done.

Good Intro To A New To Me Author
I'm in a couple of M/M romance groups both on Facebook and Goodreads, and I notice a lot of readers sing the praises of Ms. Calmes. I hadn't yet read any of her work, but I have at least... at LEAST five of her books on my Kindle. I decided it was time to rectify my virgin status and catch up.A Matter of Time Vol. 1 is the tale of Jory, hot young, twenty-two-year-old who out of loyalty to a friend decides to do her a favor. The friend was in a really bad situation, and Jory came to her rescue; unfortunately, the situation he ends up in due to helping his friend is pretty bad. Wrong place, wrong time, and the police become involved. We then meet Detective Sam Kage. Oh, he's stoic, oh so stoic. I found it adorable every time he popped up wherever Jory was. It was teetering the line of stalking, but his infatuation was adorable. I loved that Jory read the signals well and finally gave Sam what he was craving. The sex scenes were different than what I'm used to in my M/M romances. Not as graphic but nothing wrong with that.I was a little thrown off by the appearance of Dane. I thought for sure something romantic was going to happen between him and Jory, but boy was I off. Not quite sure how I feel about him. If you took him out of the book entirely, I don't think it would make much difference. He just didn't do much for me.The angst between Jory and Sam drove me a little batty at times, and the ending was a little rushed, but overall, this was a great read for me.Time well spent. Well done Ms. Calmes. Onto Vol. 2!

4 stars
4 starsI did NOT start this series from the beginning. I read Just Jory and I LOVED it so much, I wanted to read how Sam & Jory got together. This book was so outrageous. I felt so bad for Jory.**SPOILER**The poor guy witnesses a murder, meets Sam, gets hit on by men everywhere as well as makes friends with most women he meets. He loses & reconnects with Sam a few times, gets kidnapped, and the book ends on a cliffhanger.**END SPOILER**If I had not already known that their story had a happy ending, I might not have continued to read this series. It's that outrageous! How can so many bad things happen to one person and he still has a peppy attitude? I highly recommend reading this series. It's unbelievable but fantastic!*******POV... first personStandalone or series ... books 1 & 2 of a seriesDid it give me a hangover... YESWould I recommend it... YESWould I read it again... YES

Absoutely Amazing
I cannot find the words to express show fantastic this book was. Jory is a beautiful gay guy inside and out. He witnesses a cold blooded murder and agrees to be a witness. The cop who interviews him is Sam, who is proberely the most ill tempered person you could meet, who does nothing but scowl at Jordy. When Jordy refuses to go into witness protection as be has a great job as an assistant to a noted architect who treats him more like a brother than an employee. Sam starts to follow him around and though it's the last thing he wants, Sam ends up falling for Jordy. Their relationship is like a roller-coaster ride, and my heart really broke for Jordy a few times with all he has to endure. The baddies are trying to find Jordy to kill him, thus stopping him from testifying, and Sam is trying to protect him while being with him and at times not wanting to be with him. Poor Jordy, he is such a love, you just want to give him a great big cuddle, and make everything alright for him. Let's hope things work out for him in the next book. You have got to read this book, it's a must.

Recommended big time!!!
Other reviewers will tell you about the plot (personally I believe that the one provided by the site is good enough to tempt you). I'm just going to tell you how enjoyable this book, and the next, are. I am positive that after reading the first volume you are no going to waste any time in buying the second. One of the best books of this genre I have read since the Duty & Devotion series by Tere Michaels or some of the TA Chase books. For once we have plots, plural...PLURAL!!!, and full of twists at that. Another big thing for me is that these books cannot be read in half an hour, like most of them are (lucky if more than 100 pages!!) These will keep you entertained for quite a while and if you read as fasst and as much as me this is a huge thing. But lenghthy and boring are not. There are sexy parts, funny parts, intriguing parts...and anything in between. A thoroughly entertaining reading..com'on go for it!

Addictive Read!
I got a sample of the first book in this Vol a couple of months ago and although I did enjoy it I didn't love it so didn't bother to buy it. A couple of days ago I downloaded this book not realising it was the same book I had already read a sample of. Well I am very happy because by the time I had read half the book I was so caught up with the characters I downloaded the next Four books. This is a very addictive read with so much going on that you feel at times as though you need to come up for air. The main characters are loveable but at times I would love to scream at them. There is a crooked Cop, Drug Barron's and people getting killed but in the middle there is a relationship waiting to happen.Highly recommended!

A rollercoaster read
The main character, Jory Keyes, a total scatterhead, goes to do a friend a favour and ends up ruining an undercover op and incurring the wrath of one of the detectives (Sam Kage). Refusing to go into witness protection Jory carries on as though life is normal, ending up in one scrape after another. On the way he embarks on a torrid affair with Kage, is adopted by his boss, Dane Harcourt, kidnapped (twice) and shot. Phew! Talk about a trouble magnet.A hugely entertaining romp - I loved it and would thoroughly recommend.
