Rejuvenated My Love For Comics!
Guardians of the Galaxy has to be just about the best comic series I have ever read. It is so good that when I finished it I instantly ordered volume 2. Each character in this book has there moment to shine. My particular reason for getting this book was because of my love for the Peter Quill/Star-lord character. He is just one of those characters that you instantly fall in love with. This book perfectly shows how a group of characters who on there own had done some honorable and questionable things in there pasts but in the end come together to form a team to better the galaxy. Each issue seamlessly intertwines with the next by having cliffhangers at the end of each issue. There even is a small three issue Secret Invasion tie in that while I was at first hesitant, turned out to be awesome. Each and every issue of this book gave me a great feeling inside like opening presents on Christmas morning. I would buy this book for everyone on earth if I could afford it. 10/10, what are you waiting for? Buy it now!It should be noted that before you read this book that you have knowledge of some events that happened in the Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest events. I would recommend to buy those books but because of how expensive they are it would be much easier to read the Wikipedia pages on them.

Awesome artwork!
I've always been more interested in the art in comics than the stories. This publication delivers both! I had never seen the origin story of the Guardians, so this was a particularly fortuitous read for me.The Kindle edition allows you to view each frame individually, making it enjoyable on any device.

I got this as a gift for someone after much research on various Guardians of the Galaxy comics and he loved it. His only complaint was that it's a little odd going from issue to issue with various artists who make the characters vary in appearance so much. But the story was great!

What originally spurred my interest in this piece was my love for the film. So I mainly bought this compendium out of pure curiosity. I'm happy to say that it payed off. The artwork collected here is vibrant and the characters are all equally entertaining. I would recommend this to hardcore and casual marvel comic fans alike.

The product itself was as advertised. My only complaint was that it took forever for the volume to be shipped but I do not hold the seller responsible for that since I ordered it on the heels of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Now that things have settled down with demand it is a must have for the comic book or sci-fi fan.

Book was damaged
Haven’t started reading it yet but... this book was definitely not in brand new condition. There was a really noticeable tear on the cover, scratches and a few bent pages, I don’t mind too much because I will still enjoy the story but come on :(

Love this movie
Love this movie. This I could hear all the subtle one-liners! It's not a morally redeaming, educational movie. It's just plane ol' action with comedy thrown in.

If you're ONLY a fan of the movies - skip this one.
Wanted to read this for a very long time, sat on my shelf for multiple years. This is not one for the casuals. The art is very reminiscent of the top guys over at DC, and was told this was a good place to jump in to one of the seminal guardians stories.Didn't really enjoy this one, not really being a Marvel historian, I didn't know all the characters.I struggled through but won't be picking up the next book.

Just about as good as it gets
As an avid reader of graphic novels and comics for some time I was aware of the Guardians of the Galaxy but the Marvel Cosmic Universe never really grabbed my attention so other than the occasional recommendation popping up I didn’t know a great deal about the characters and their stories. Then the movie came out and changed everything. Here was a group of witty, interesting and very different scoundrels each with their own tale to tell, woven into an engaging overall story. I had to know more and after a bit of background reading I decided to start here. I wasn’t disappointed. All the gang from the movie are here; Peter Quill (Starlord), Gamora, Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Drax plus additional characters Phyla-Vell; the new Quasar and daughter of Captain Marvell, Mantis; the team’s base coordinator and very powerful teep (telepath), and Adam Warlock; a brooding space warlock and someone who will be very well known to long time Marvel readers. The beginning of the story is actually an ending (of the previous cosmic story arc and the Phalanx invasion of the Kree), and you learn quickly that although the group have fought together it was never as an official squad either in name or spirit. So Starlord goes about recruiting them as a team of heroes to protect the galaxy.Basing themselves at Knowhere, the space station formed from the severed head of a space titan, and with a extremely powerful teleport system they go about clearing up the mess, in the form a massive rip in the fabric of space, the previous war had disposed upon the galaxy. While attempting to repair the rip they have their first encounter with the Universal Church of Truth, who will become major players in this story arc, and their warrior cardinals who seem hell bent upon keeping the rip open. Along the way they pick up a very mysterious figure that may or may not be from their future or some other future, bears items very familiar to them and will also play a major role in the ongoing story. As we progress we witness epic battles, sacrifice, deception, splits, familiar faces (some good, some bad), and home truths as the fractured Guardians attempt in their own unique way to save the galaxy.Even in the world of graphic novels a team of galactic of heroes with spells and time travel and telepathic space dogs with Russian accents will raise the occasional eyebrow but it is testament to the writing of Abnett and Lanning that not only does the story hold together, but is believable (in a sort of unbelievable kind of way). The characters are both interesting and endearing and dare I say human with occasional faults and bad decision making and all that comes along with that.Whether you are a long time graphic novel aficionado or someone who watched the movie and want to find out more I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Everything about it; characters, story, concept, and art is exceptional and showcases two writers at the very top of their form.On the back of it I have purchased and read more of their work in the Marvel Cosmic Universe and I can’t see myself stopping anytime soon, it is that good.

Disappointed
I’m sure this has printing issues as the story jumps so dramatically around even within the first few pages. Couldn’t be bothered to carry on. Also very pricey for how many pages you get. I also couldn’t gell with the story you’d need to pre read a lot of other material.

Phyla-Vell... my new favourite hero!
This graphic novel is fantastic! The story is very interesting and definitely hooks you. It takes a little while for the story to kick off but is a great read nonetheless. The characters involved are brilliant, you cant complain when you get a bit of Adam Warlock :D The humour also is fantastic xD The Art is beautiful. 10 out of 10 from me :)

A fantastic gift!
I bought this as a gift for my other half who is a giant Guardians of the Galaxy fan, he absolutely loved it. The product is high quality and the illustrations are amazing, I even enjoyed looking through it myself.
