Multispeaker soundbase, sleek design, lots of features.
The digital readout is visible the front mesh panel, but may be set to turn off after a few seconds, leaving no annoying lights to show. There are several sound voices (std, movie, hall, games, etc.) that help to simulate the correct sound for any situation. For example, while watching a movie with Dolby, the Movie voice spreads the sound out and around the room for more realistic action. The soundbase has a bass speaker with loudness control. The soundbase also allows overall bass and treble to be controlled. The speakers are not large and will not provide the same depth/realism as a 5.1 setup. That's the reason for the 4-star rating, rather than 5-stars. The base is rated for TVs weighing about 55lbs, but mine is supporting a 75lb Sony 40" XBR2. My Harmony Ultimate One fully controls the sound base, so I need only 1 remote for TV, speaker and cable. This soundbase has many other features, including Bluetooth.

Great sound at the pricepoint.
I bought this refurbished but don't let that discourage you from reading further. The product was pristine on arrival.I live in an apartment with great soundproofing between units. Still, I didn't want to wake the neighbors watching movies at night. This is no audiophile's dream but the sound is great. To say otherwise would be a bit snobbish. If a superior sound is a goal then this wouldn't be a part of the search anyway. The reason I say the sound is great is that not once did I feel like the audio was erratic needing constant adjustment during a film. The sound is full and strong. I was never yanked out of my viewing experience because of moments of unnatural audio.

Not for audiophiles, but reasonable value for the money
I purchased this soundbar to hook into a TCL 65" TV used DVD presentations at a small fellowship hall. I wanted a decent sounding sound bar at a sub $130 price point, with HDMI. Since many sound bars at this price don't have the HDMI, I went with the Sony. I'm not disappointed. The cons for this product is that controls are in an awkward place, and the LED screen is small and a bit faint to read. The pros is that the sound is quite good for the price, much better than a comparably priced Vizio that I own. I have a high end Sony sound bar system, so I know how good a sound bar could be (although I am not a huge fan of the sound bars compared to traditional speaker set ups), and this product isn't going to impress even marginal audiophiles. Still, if your budget only allows you to look at soundbars in this price point, this Sony is a good way to go, especially given the HDMI option.

The sound is really good and the base is decent
The sound is really good and the base is decent. I do think that they should make a wireless sub to go along with it tho. For the money I am pleased with it...
