Good, but order twice as many as you need.
I bought these for a home office because I could not see the yellow highlighter on my paperwork under the light from "warm" CFLs. Definitely a much whiter light than you might be used to (the "gas station mini-mart" look that another reviewer mentioned), but you can get excellent results if you put one of these and one "warm" CFL in a 2-bulb fixture. They're the same size as a generic 100W light bulb, so they fit any fixture; but note that they are a bit slower than most CFLs to come up to full brightness, maybe 30 seconds or so.Beware the miserable factory packaging: a tight-fitting cardboard box with zero padding. I ordered a 2-pack, which arrived with one bulb broken. Amazon took them back and sent a replacement, and again one bulb arrived broken. I'm going to get a third package, but this time I'll hold on to the one good bulb, so I can send back two broken ones. (Assuming they don't send me TWO broken bulbs, which is a distinct possibility.) This is despite plenty of airbag packaging from Amazon -- I suspect they're being busted further up the supply chain.Compared to Costco's 8-pack prices on "warm" CFLs, these are relatively expensive, but with 50% losses in shipment I suppose they have to charge twice as much.

Once it warms up, so does my heart
As a college student, I'm typically up late and in class (or asleep) during daylight hours. This means I generally only see the sun one to two hours a day, which wears me down and puts me in a sour mood. To try and combat that, I replaced the overhead light in my bedroom with this bulb.I absolutely love it. Though it takes up to 5 minutes to fully warm up and reach its full brightness, once it does, it puts out a brilliant white light that I can't describe any other way than "feeling nice." It's a truly visceral reaction. The bulb isn't doesn't appear as bright as you would expect, but I find that because its light is full-spectrum, I don't have any trouble reading. If you're suffering from SAD, or just want a more natural-feeling dose of light, I'd recommend this bulb.

Wonderful
For a full-time student and part-time teacher, good light that doesn't contribute to eyestrain is critical. Add the needs of warding off the pall of long, dark, gloomy winters in a rented vanilla box in a student town with no car. I used to feel tired and sleepy all the time in winters, and always craved "more light." Answer:le lamp. I'm really glad I purchased these bulbs. No eyestrain, no sleepiness/tiredness; in fact, the only 'negative' effect is that they actually keep me awake and alert for far too long:) I have to step away from them about 2 hours before bedtime in order to feel naturally sleepy. But I really couldn't care less because they do the real job.

Harsh bright white light better suited for a hospital or office
These "natural spectrum" lights are really like the bright white office lighting I hate so much. I wanted natural lighting that was soft and created a relaxing ambiance in my living room - these created a harsh white light more suitable to a hospital operating room. I'd recommend these bulbs for offices, or anywhere super bright white light might be helpful ie working in your garage or on detailed work at your desk. Otherwise, I'd skip if you are looking to light a room in your home. I even tried using these in my bathroom after realizing I hated them in my living room (even my sister commented how harsh the light was!) but I disliked the light even in that small space. I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning these, so I'll use them to light my closets once the bulbs in there need replacing.

not natural, not bright
As soon as I installed these 26W bulbs in my study room, my wife said: "Is there a UFO landed in our home?" The color temperature is 6500K. It is not really white or natural. The light is blueish-white. I don't think this is good for reading. Also it is not really as bright as a 150W incandescent bulb. I've compared the 26W version of Verilux with a 75W incandescent. The incandescent won. I also found the cheap GE bulbs you could find at Walmart brighter than this one. There are cheaper and better choices available.

Great light
The lights work very well, the only problem was the first time they came one was already broken. No problem there they replaced it right away; they only owed us one lamp but sent 2 of them & it was good that they did because one of the 2 was also broken. It seems that it would be a lot cheaper for them if they changed the shipping container.

great item, but order alone
I ordered these even after reading other reviews saying that they came broken. I ordered them with something else and they did, indeed, come broken. Amazon sent me a new pkg. immediately-thanks Amazon cust. service!-and they were all in one piece. The bulbs themselves fit a regular socket, give off pure white light and are exactly what I wanted for my application. I wanted full spectrum bulbs because I'm newly diagnosed with SAD and although they aren't meant to be SAD lights, they do help. I'm very satisfied and will order them again. I also ordered another Verilux product and am happy with that, as well.

Gentle, comforting fluorescent lighting
Whenever at the DMV, the supermarket, the post office, or the bank I am always slightly annoyed by the fluorescent lighting. It feels as if they are injecting me with their rays. Also, I was never a fan of the dimness of incandescent lights so I was looking for something calmer; little did I know Verilux fluorescent lights would be the answer.Unlike the Verilux spectrum floor lamps, these light bulbs aren't as sharp and therefore more fitting inside ceiling fixtures or corner lamps.I prefer the clear yet subtle light it provides.

75W equivalent, not 100W equivalent
These bulbs (18 Watts) are not 100W equivalent bulbs but according to the packaging, they are 75W equivalent with 1260 lumens. Should still be suitable but it would be nice if the advertising was correct.

After All These Years
For us older people who remember the old school incandescent light bulbs. Along come the CFL, wonderful, however the light from them like the old school bulbs has a dull yellow tint to it. These veriux lamps are BRIGHT white, they allow you to see even the small super fine print. I have all the bulbs they sell and will slowly replace all the CFL's I have in the house with these.Let There be Light, verilux has done just that...
