Does it work on the mac

Linda: Yes, this works on a Mac, under the following conditions: Snow Leopard (10.6.8 or higher, up to Mavericks 10.9.1 in my direct experience). And you NEED TO REFORMAT THE DISC. Connect the disc via the USB 3.0 (or USB 2.0) port, open GO > UTILITIES > DISK UTILITY > click on the TOP DISC in the left hand column > Highlight it > Select ERASE > then you will need to FORMAT > Mac OS Extended (Journaled) > then NAME the disc (something uncommon, like a word NOT usually found on your computer. I name mine after Planets, the last name of photographers, artists) It will run for a few minutes (generally 2), and then it's Mac-compatible. Hope this helps!

This is a USB 3.0 drive. Internally it's probably SATA. But there's no eSATA external connection.
