Good, but could be better
Easy for my reading-challenged child to read, and it also has a great lesson in it. This is indirectly helping my child to understand that lying can cause a huge issue. I like that the end resolved the lying issue, but I feel like there could have been a punishment. It ends almost too positively. I like that the moral is that lying is bad and can get you in trouble. I don't like that it shows my son that even if you lie that everything will be okay. It shows that the sheep ran away because the boy cried wolf, but it doesn't really make the connection that I was looking for as far as the moral of the story.

A good book to share with your kids. .
The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a good story. It's a life lesson about lying. Never tell lies or people will not believe you when you tell the truth. When Tom cries wolf 2 times, the people who come to help him are not happy that Tom fool them. But when the wolf really shows up and Tom calls for help, the people feel he's still joking. It's always best to call for help when it's a real serious problem, like when you call the police or fire department. Always call for help for a real serious matter. This book is a good book to read, especially to a little boy or girl to teach them lying is wrong and it's always best to tell the truth.

easy to understand version of the classic
We've been reading this as a way to learn the importance of telling the truth. It's a simple, easy to understand version of the classic, but I don't love the ending where basically his parents say "we believe you" and there are no repercussions for lying.

Classic story, great lesson!
One of my children had taken to 'story telling'. After several incidences, including telling a sitter that his baby sister was allergic to a food she'd consumed, causing panic and undue stress on said sitter (Seriously, with 4 boys and 1 tiny diva, do you have any idea how hard it is to get a sitter even without stunts like this?) I resorted to a classic story to teach my boy about his "jokes". One point goes to mom! It worked. Once he starts a 'story' I ask if he's "yelling about a wolf" and he smiles and stops...usually. It's also a great book for my beginner reader.

Excellent book
Excellent book for reading to a 3 year old. Great illustrations, easy to understand, and a great way to introduce them to the importance of telling the truth.

Not Like The Original Story
Was it really necessary to change the ending from the original story? The wolf ate the little boy not the sheep in the original story for lying. Much more powerful to send home the message that lying has serious consequences.

Modern illustrations for timeless message
I love this story and was happy to find it in an easy book with modern illustrations to keep my kids attention. Outdated graphics just aren’t effective tools in my house.

This is not the story. The story is that ...
This is not the story. The story is that if you lie, there are consequences. This version he lied and got a pat on the back. NO LESSON HERE.

The book came with a liquid marked bottom corner. It doesn't effect being able to read the book but I thought I was buying a new book, not 2nd hand. Packaging wasn't damaged or stained.
