Important lessons
I’m a school counselor, so I bought this book to use with my students. It’s a great example of how when we feel badly about ourselves, we tend to say things that are hurtful to others (Hurt people hurt people). It’s a great tool to help kids understand the feelings behind the behavior.

Two or three bads do not make a good.
It was cute but difficult to use in a clinic for kids with impulse control problems as the impulsive fabrication is put down/degraded/denigrated by being called fat and ugly. Lots of kids with impulsive talk also have impulsive eating and weight problems. Unfortunately, this is increasing, not decreasing. It may be helpful for some more fortunate kids with a thin and good looking family but it certainly does not help with the temptation to call names or put down the other. Was thinking to just use with more fortunate grandkids but really do not want to teach them how to bully the fat kids. So unfortunately will be filing in the round file.

Our 4 year old grandson is quite the "story" teller, and he loves books, so we thought stories about the negative effects of lies would encourage truth telling. He loves this book and requests it almost every time I read to him.

Enjoyed the message
Cute book. Enjoyed the message. Only problem is that the lie gets called bad names. Had to say... "Well, that wasn't a very nice thing to say. Was it?" But it was cute none the less.

We made different sizes of the lie. Whenever anyone ...
We made different sizes of the lie. Whenever anyone lies, we get one of the lies out and talk about it with the one who told the lie. They want the lie to go away, so they usually tell the truth.

Damaged book
Book arrived and spine was bent in a way that caused a tear in the spine. The other book in same delivery was fine so the shippinh wasn't the issue. The story itself is a good idea but the last half is the kid calling the monster dumb, fat and saying he's too smart.. it's learning to not lie but worded poorly to sound like bullying.
