I strongly recommend it because it critically investigates the philosophers attempting to incorporate mathematical approach into philosophy. The significance is that Reichenbach has been in touch with greatest physicists like Albert Einstein and have great insight to the scientific approach and prominent philosophers in history.

This is one of the most important and internationally recognized books of Reichenbach, founder of the Berlin circle of Empirical Philosophy. He explains the principles of this new kind of philosophy, how it contrasts to the historical ad-hoc approaches used so far, and how it better suits the goal of explaining the philosophical foundations of modern science. Reading this book you feel that Reichenbach has deep understanding of modern physics (Relativity and Quantum mechanics).This book is a must for modern philosophers as well as good physics students. Being a non-philosopher I enjoyed reading his clear and easily understandable explanations very much.The book consists of two parts. In the first part the author evaluates the philosophy as it has been studied since the ancient Greeks. He contrasts it with the principle of empiricism and generalization as it underlies sciences. He also applies this method to the studies of ethical questions.In the second part he describes the results of this new philosophy and how it catches up with modern science. In particular he explains some ethical questions from the scientific point of view.

I am neither a scientist nor a philosopher, but I like to dabble in reading about both, so this is a great combination. If you are scientifically inclined and have any interest in philosophy, this book provides a lot of great insight. It's about 60 years old, so maybe there are more recent works that do a similar thing, but this withstands the tests of time.
