Pure Awesome
Alright. This is Modern Warfare 2. If you've played Call of Duty 4, you know how fun that game was. Up until Modern Warfare 2's release, it was the most played game on both Xbox Live and PSN. If that doesn't tell you something about how good it was, then go play it. You'll be amazed. Modern Warfare 2 is every bit as fun as its predecessor, and then some. What made COD4 so great was the multiplayer system that allowed players to rank up, unlock new weapons, complete challenges, and earn in-game rewards for killstreaks (UAV, air strikes, and helicopters). If you take that system, inject it with the most ridiculous steroid you can find, and then add even more to it (personalized titles/emblems), that's what MW2 is. There are more ranks, more challenges, more game modes, more killstreaks... more, more, more. On top of all that goodness, there's an epic Michael Bay-style campaign that will challenge you and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through. There's also a new Spec-Ops mode, where you and a friend (online or off) can play cooperatively to complete a mission (survive multiple waves of enemies, race snowmobiles through rough terrain swarming with enemies, or one of my personal favorites, a mission where one player is on the ground trying to make it to a destination through an impossible number of enemies, while the other is up in an AC-130 clearing the way) and earn stars. All in all, Modern Warfare is a fantastic game that will provide endless entertainment. If you haven't bought it already, do it, right now.

Fun and Great game!
This is one of the best FPS games I ever played! This game is addicting! Single player mode is fun and is recommended playing before you go online (to give you the basic controls and to get used to the guns) Unfortunately campaign mode is short, it should take around 5-8 hours to beat the game. But there is another mode called black ops ( kind of like a mini games), which is fun too but also short. This game is more based on its multiplayer features. I bought this game for the ps3 since its free online (the main reason I bought this game). online is addicting since its based on "leveling up", start at level 1 and work your way to level 70 and on to prestige mode (extra custom classes). you want to level up to unlock guns, attachments (red dot scope, thermal vision scope, dual weapons and more), go on a kill streak ( kill without dying) to call in air support, use a missle, or nuke everyone!, also there is a deathstreak (die at least 3-4 times in a row) which helps to give you kills, many modes to chose from (ffa, team death match, capture the flag, plant/defuse bomb and more, and there are more features that i'm to lazy to list that would be fun. As for choosing regular, hardened, prestige. I would recommend buying the game at very least esp if your into FPS. I don't think buying the hardened edition is worth the regular price (75+) IMO, but for $49-59 I would say its worth it. The metal case is beautiful, you get the orignal CoD, and an artbook. Get the hardened edition if you want a different style cover , enjoy art relating to military, want to play the original CoD (download off PSN) recommended to get it on sale rather than getting it for the original price. I'm not to hardcore/collector of this game to get the prestige set. But this game is a must have for anyone into FPS!

A definite front runner for Game of the Year. Again.
What can I possibly say that the previous reviews have not already covered? The first COD4: Modern Warfare raised the bar for total immersive first person game play, and the on-line multiplayer mode most certainly contributed to the overall success and popularity of this now classic game. Like many, I wondered how in world could Infinity Ward improve on an already near perfect game? Modern Warfare 2 is the answer to that question. I'm sure I could sit here and write a lengthy review about every cool new aspect of the game, but you really just have to experience it for yourself. Newcomers to this franchise will be blown away, and will no doubt be exhilarated by this gaming experience. Original Modern Warfare vets will appreciate the continuing story line in campaign mode, and the vastly improved additions to the on-line multiplayer mode. I can already see that the devastating new killstreaks will be the bane of those who consistently fall victim to more skilled players in Team Deathmatch. God help us all. If you can't pick up this game just yet, you had better at least hone your skills on the original MW before entering the multiplayer arena in MW2, less you get your feelings hurt. The hardened edition is definitely worth the extra cheese if you like the extra bling. Nice steelbook hardcase with very nice cover art, plus a mini concept art book and the original COD game to boot. But in essence it's really all about the game after all isn't it? So if the extra special goodies aren't your cup of tea and you just want to get right down to it and start racking up as many kills as possible, then save your money and go for the standard edition. I'm sure the special editions may be tough to come by when Christmas shopping season hits, so get it while you can. I will not be surprised if this follows in it's predecessors footsteps and wins Game of the Year. Again.

Some improvements, some steps backward
Fun game, solid sequel. Campaign missions are generally more varied and better than COD 4:MW, but the story is sorely lacking in comparison along with the fact the new luster and innovative new missions (pripyat and the ac-130 ones)are not really here (Cliffhanger would've been good but they blew that by showcasing it at E3). Spec-Ops is fun, multiplayer is improved yet they made to many tweaks and additions (lots of balancing issues such as akimbo weapons, shotguns as overpowered secondary weapons, grenade launcher available as a secondary/combined with bling pro leads to way to much grenade launching in lots of games, assault rifles reaching as far as sniper rifles, bad lag/huge host advantage, terrible spawn reassignment which leads to lots of spawn camping and easy kills/cheap deaths). Overall a worthy sequel, just probably did not live up to the impossible expectations (and in general a lot of the issues in multiplayer at least could be fixed in patches if IW bothers to, though some of the issues are just head scratching as to why IW would do some of these in the first place...especially since a beta test would have revealed many of the balance issues and bad decisions..they made a video about being against grenade spamming yet made the game to accommodate someone with a frag grenade and the FOUR grenades for grenade launching in one life).

If you have an good taste in games you will drop whatever you are doing and by this game. GO NOW!
Okay I am going to be as clear as I can be, this is probably the greatest first person shooter I have ever played. Unlike most people I am going to say the bad stuff first. The campaign is a little short in comparison to other games. So if you are a gamer who only plays the single player campaign and will never touch the online, I would rent before you buy. But I can promise you that you will enjoy the single player game. Now onto what will keep you busy for probably the rest of your life, the multiplayer, competitve and coop. This game takes everything good from the first game and pretty much doubles it in greatness. Everything is better. You can now have 3 perks on instead of one, my favorite is the bling, which allows you to have 2 attachments. The deathstreaks are a nice touch too because they help you if you are having a bad game. So you will enjoy this mode. Now onto the coop. This is not the full story coop, instead it is just a bunch of missions that you must complete. And they are fun none the less. They vary from killing a number of enemies, snowmobile racing, or covering your friend with a gunship. Okay this part will be about the extras for buying the hardened edition. This is worth it because not only do you get the game but also the original call of duty. So go out there and buy this game, unless you like missing out on a very good game.

HIGHER EXPECTATIONS
Modern Warfare 2 was bought for Christmas with higher expectations based on previous COD games. My nephew and son whizzed through the campaign in no time. It did not take me anytime to beat the game either and I am not as good as my son. The graphics are the best. Too bad the game-play rushes you through one screen to the next barely giving you anytime to appreciate the design graphics of the game. Cool weapons, though again, the game-play rushes you through to the point where you are not given a chance to try out all the cool guns, or get use to their features. The story line is short and weak. COD World at War is twice the game as MW2. Of course, the game ends unexpectedly leaving another short story for the sequel. I guess this is a good marketing strategy: Make really cool games short-played with a sequel, more sequels = more MONEY! (They know you're going to by the newest sequel to find out what happens next). Just my penny's worth!

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's been reviewed to death so I won't waste too much time. The single player was fun, but I didn't feel that it moved any mountains. The AI was surprisingly good throughout the game--this was my first Call of Duty game and I couldn't help but be impressed at how intelligent the enemies were on the harder difficulties. There was a lot of mission variety, but it just ended a bit too quickly and without a satisfying resolution. The multiplayer, which I'm sure was the main reason most people bought the game, is very inacessibly difficult to those new to the series. Coupled with a leveling system that rewards those who can already play much better with still better gear, and it's brutal to the newcomer. There are definite moments of fun, but in my experience it's served to be quite frustrating...in a satisfying way. In any case, I'm gonna keep playing and getting better, but do not expect to get online and break above a 1:1 kill-to-death ratio without an extreme, persistent dedication of time. If I had the time to dedicate I'm sure I'd have a lot more fun with it. As for the hardened edition, I was a bit disappointed with the goodies. The case was...kinda neat I guess, and the little book was similarly neat...but overall it didn't seem worth the extra 20 bucks coupled with the (now $15 on PSN) CoD classic. I suppose the value is fair in that respect. As an aside, CoD classic is quite awesome as well. I find the older physics a better fit for console controls, and the right and left d-pad buttons allow you to lean either direction which is GREAT tactically. There's a full-featured, 24-episode campaign for single-playing, and a multiplayer mode as well. Very fun too, as I love seeing the origins of a series.

AWESOME GAME! but wrong region
I already got this game when it was released, but i thought about getting a hardened edition of it would be cool and I could sell my old copy. Unfortunately, Amazon brought me the wrong region (europe region). So now I can't use my old save data, I could finish the campaign again; it's still fun to play; but the spec ops missions are a pain and won't go through that again. so the bottom line is, I got the wrong region. This is Amazon US, why would I get a EU item, specially since I didn't select a certain seller...
