The flat wire is different, though I don't carry them around, so I can't speak to whether or not they're less likely to tangle in your pocket. They do deliver great sound though, and I haven't had any problems with them falling out of my ears.. I have no idea how well the microphone works since they're strictly for use with YouTube on my PC. For $10, I'd buy them again and can recommend them.
