Cafetto Spectra Espresso Machine Descaler, Color Indicator Descaling Cleaning Powder Designed for Espresso Machine Water Tanks, Boilers and Coffee Brewers (Pack of 4)

I bought this to descale my two Keurig machines and a Bonavita. The descaler worked great. I followed the instructions for the descaler and manufacturer. I then rinsed and cleaned the machines and the water tanks, then ran through two full rinse cycles. Everything came out clean and the coffee tasted great after cleaning.

It descaled the Breville Barista. I dissolved the powder in cold water in a measuring cup before pouring into the water reservoir. The reservoir water was orange going in and it was orange coming out. I slightly hoped it would turn blue so I can see if the pH dye really worked. Maybe I'll let the machine go un-de-scaled for a few extra months instead of the usual 2 month recommendation per the manual. Make sure your water reservoir filter is removed before running the clean function.

Ingredients used in this powder are hard to find, but they are listed in small font at the end of a warning about getting this solution into your eyes on the back panel of the package.Ingredients: Citric Acid (60%), Tartaric Acid (10%), and nonionic surfactants (1%).The instructions are not aimed at the US market and are stated in milliliters. One packet should be mixed with 250 mL of water, which is about 8.5 oz. A little more than a cup.What I like most about this descaling solution is that it changes color to indicate when the job is done. The test is done based on pH-sensitive dye. If the color of the liquid is blue, the descaling is not complete, and the descaling cycle needs to be repeated. When the unit is fully descaled, the color of the liquid will be orange.The packaging contains four single-use sachets. Excellent descaling product. I've typically used a homemade blend of baking soda and lemon for my coffee makers, french press, kettles and pots. But having this is far more convenient. It works fast. Just as described .. In 15 minutes. And I only used half a packet per item with 250 ml of water. I used it with hot water. A little swirling action and you are sure it covers everything. By the time I was back from wiping down all my kitchen surfaces, I think approx 20 minutes had passed. This thing made everything shine. So glad I found something safe that does the job. Easy to rinse off and no aftertaste. I used the stopper in my clean sink while pouring out this product from the press, kettles and pots, since I was curious if it would also work on my steel sink. Let it sit there for 5 minutes and my sink brightened up too. Also, conserved some water this way. The pinkish color is cool and while it's working, I can tell the scaling residue is peeling off. Everything I used it on is glass with metal. So, it was easy to see it work. I don't have much by way of plastic but I feel like it would work just as well if your kettles and pots have a plastic body with metal inside. For my purpose, the price seems fair. Be sure to take care and follow instructions on your machine.

I have a DeLonghi espresso machine, and because I have a larger family (7 of us drink coffee), my descaling light goes on about every 10 days (which is a bit ridiculous), so I've been looking for a reasonably priced descaling solution.This packet mixed with 500 ml of water (per the instructions) was too much solution for my machine (per the descaling instructions for my DeLonghi). I mixed it up, used what I needed to for my machine, and poured the other half down the drain. I suppose next time I'll mix up half the packet in 250 ml of water so I'm not wasting.At first I didn't understand how the color indicator worked, but after using the solution, it became clear that the color of the solution that comes out when descaling is what tells whether the machine needs a second descaling or not. My machine is new, and I descaled after about two weeks of use, so one solution (half a packet) produced an amber color, which showed me the machine was clean.Other than the wasted product, this did work well for me.

There were lots of debris in my machine that this helped get rid of. I was able to see how dirty the water was when it came out! Great purchase! Left no after taste.

The product arrived as described with no defects and excellent quality.

This is the second time purchasing this and it works great.

Not much to say. Dissolves in water and machine seems to be clean after use.

The product is good but I have to use two packets to clean the Breville. This makes it pretty expensive to use.
