An Engaging and Well Organized Supplementary Resource!
I've used this resource with my middle school students and it has been such a hit that I ordered Zachary Hamby's other book as well.It is not meant to replace exposure to classical mythology, but to be used as a supplementary resource. It has been incredibly helpful at engaging students and getting them excited about the world of Greek mythology. My students would beg me to read these plays, even after we had finished our unit on Greek mythology. As a teacher, it's an amazing feeling to witness that level of excitement in your students. The book is organized by common themes. Each section contains at least one play, passages on aspects of mythology that were introduced in the play, sample discussion questions, activities, and recommended movies. The plays include a cast list and are generally around 30 minutes when acted out in class. The students love the humor and sarcastic tone that is woven throughout them, it's definitely perfect for teens. There's also a pronunciation index in the back, which the students found very helpful.Like all readings, I highly recommend you preview the plays and passages because some involve issues of beastiality and sexual promiscuity, which you may not feel are appropriate for your age range.

Amazing Special Education Book!
I used this book to teach Mythology this past summer in a high school special education room. When I purchased this book to use a text, I did not have very high expectations since I needed a book fast. What I ended up with was one of the best texts I have used in quite some time. All the kids loved the activities, stories, and the author truly brought the topic to life with current events. This is a must for any Social Studies teacher .

Great for younger students, too!!!
I used the scripts for my 6th grade language arts classes at the end of the year and they loved acting them out! Choosing parts gave them ownership and they read with more feeling and drama than usual.Positives: teen-friendly, but not dumbed down, appropriate language many parts for each script makes myths fun and come alive each myth is framed by a larger theme/big idea a few pages of teen-friendly sophisticated accompanying commentary for each myth discussion tips for each myth very cool and modern graphic-novel-style illustrations of gods/place names/etc. with a paragraph of helpful explanationNegatives: no pre-reading activity to provide contextHighly recommended for: Middle or high school English or history teachers.

Mythology for Teens: Classic Myths for Today's World
This book is wonderful. The table of contents available in the preview lists all of the reader's theater in the book, but on top of that, there are articles written by the author that will help engage students' brains about the bigger relevance going on in the book. I feel like a whole new door has been opened with this book.

Truly an incredible resource!
I bought this for my 9th grade class when I started teaching Greek mythology, which I'd never taught before. Completely inspirational and incredible....what a fantastic resource! I whole-heartedly recommend this book for the insight, teaching tips, imaginative lessons and ready-to-use resources contained within.

Good mythology reading
I was looking for more supplementary activities for my high school freshmen and this didn't have that. Good stories though for supplementary reading.

Book not as advertised!!!!
The cover was correct but inside was an entirely different book. Very frustrating as I needed this ASAP to plan an upcoming Mythology unit for my classroom.
