Awesome!
I am a Gamer since I was a little Kid, now I am 34 and I still do play alot of different Games, be it on the Nintendo Switch or any other Console and every experienced Gamer knows that there are Games, that arent that addictive and there are Games that are very addictive and this one, Children of Morta, is an extremly addictive Game. It has a simple Graphic, similar like Gameboy Color. The Graphics are designed that Way, that you can notice detailed Things, like how Characters do different Things, move, talk, fight, despite the Fact, that it is so simple and small. The Programmers used every Pixel to make the Gamer for Example see, someone pets his Cat, or someone else reading a Book while changing Bookpages, but the Thing is, it happens in very small Pixels, like you would have on a Gameboy Color. The Addictivness you get is: You have different Dungeons you unlock, one after another. You can choose between alot of different Characters, with different Active Skills and Passive Skills. You have Character Levels. Often you will tend to choose another Character, because using only one, the whole Time, makes the Characters Lifepoint be decreased, for the next Game, because of Fatigue, but the Fatigue also increases when using the same Character all the Time. It comes with increasing Percentage, but here is the Magic. By using different Characters, you get addicted, because you want to level up, unlock Skills, level up Skills of the now used Character and you will find it hard to just sit there and play for maybe half an Hour. I did play through the End of the Game and I have to say, Im sad that it couldnt be longer, thats how addictive it is. There is also an Hard Mode which makes up for how fast you can finish the Game.Only Minus Point I can give is:It has only Local Co-op Mode. There is no Online Co-op Mode, which is very sad, because it would be even more Fun to be able to play with Friends on the Switch Online. Therefore i can give only 4 Stars, not 5, but even for a Singleplayer it is an extremely addicting Game. It was a good Choice to add this Game to my Collection

Lovecraft meets roguelike
Very fun rogue game with a good, lovecraftian plot. All characters are fun to play as, the game is challenging enough to keep o retrying and the levels are cool enough that you don't feel like grinding when you replay them!!

Must Buy! Pixel diablo rogue-lite w/Local Coop
TL:DR at the bottom!I love this game! I hope they make a sequel or add an expansion. Im very glad to own the portable switch version as this game is deffinately a gem. I also own it on PS4 and its playable free on XB Gamepass as of right now. Since this game feels as though your always progressing each run, I felt it was a perfect game to own portably for those times you may only have time for a single run, its progress! The story is awesome, the narrator amazing, music great, graphics dark and everything just works to tell this story of life, love, loss, and family that each member of the Bergsons brings.Look for interactable objects in and around the Bergsons home and dungeons as you progress to unlock more story interaction, I dont want to spoil anything but if you find an item, it might appear on the walls in the home, someone or something might show up in/around the home that if clicked on opens a cutscene that goes deeper into the story or relationships between family members. Watch them grow and interact as they go about daily life, a pet might be taking a nap or playing with a child. This is a rogue-lite which means there are aspects of the game that are randomized and will be different everytime. Such as each dungeon will not be the same, the dungeons will be oriented differently with completely different paths, events will change, elites may or may not be present, the items dropped may be exactly what you wanted or may be not what you wanted adding a little more challenge that run, there may be a shop in a dungeon or that shop may have nothing you want, it could have awesome items but you lack the ability to buy! Because your supposed to redo the same areas multiple times it keeps the game feeling fresh since you arent 100% sure what each run will entail. The lite part is that when you do end up dying/failing instead of going back to square one you get to keep all the money, experience, skill points, and purchased skills for all family members making them grow over time and always feel like you accomplished something, even if it was a quick run to earn enough gold to unlock extra hp for all the Bergsons, extra crit rate, etc...as well as any skill points earned for the specific Bergson your playing and any personal skills you do aquire. What you do lose are any temporary items you find on each run are only for that run. Find a relic that adds a pet that shoots any enemies around you, it stays till you beat the dungeon or die. Find a skill that adds an ability to heal, again it stays for that run only or you die, as well as items that add fire dmg for a limited time etc...Each Bergson has their own skill tree that are the permanent skills and also on that tree are the "family" buffs each Bergson adds to the entire family as they level up they bring more to the table. Also there are 2 other family wheels unlocked at the Bersons home to upgrade that add, crit, hp, def, etc...and the other adds stuff like bonus gold find, bonus exp, better relics etc...and those also persist for the entire family and do not go away upon death.I have read reviews where people were annoyed with the sickness thing that occurs forcing them to use other family members and anyone complaining about that has only played the game 1 or 2 hours at best and is complaining just to complain.Basically you start the game with 2 of the family members unlocked and as you progress you will unlock more members of the bergsons family. Each member can go on a dungeon crawl 2-3 times before they start to become exhausted and have temporary debuffs applied to them, simply play another family member for 2 or 3 runs and then your sick and tired previous member will be all better, or use an item found during exploration to instantly get rid of sickness/tiredness (ive never had to use that) making their complaints utter nonsense. You actually will want to play ALL of the family members because each one has a completely different play style BUT each one also has permanent buffs they learn not only for themselves but for the entire family, making the whole faimly stronger. As you start to unlock and add these "family" buffs you can see ALL of them get stronger and the next time you play one that felt weaker they will show drastic improvments as they start to aquire all the buffs from their family members. I do not prefer to play the sword/shield character but after leveling up a bunch of the other Bergsons I don't find it as bad as I did since he's far stronger now, hes just not my prefered play style as I like the range characters best but also greatly enjoy the melee ones as well since they are so different. This is not a game that you pick a character and play start to finish with that 1 character, your playing as an entire family and each one brings benefits to the entire family the stronger each gets. I dont mind playing a less prefered melee character when I know that not only is that charcter getting stronger but they are making the characters I love most even stronger. Also you will be doing the same runs over and over so expect to die alot early on, and get better and better as you go. Dont be afraid to go back to a a weaker area on a much stronger Bergson to farm up some exp and family buffs for a few runs before you try to tackle a much harder area. The family that slays together; stays together!TL:DR Buy this game! If you enjoy Rogue-lite diablo style this game is amazing!!!! It has Local Co-op with plans to add Online Coop at some point.

Simply Amazing!
This game was/is incredibly enjoyable! An RPG with a twist on progression, Children of Morta gives the adventurer a reason to progress the entirely family - playable characters, each with unique combat styles and skills - through milestones which reward the family with passive abilities. Put aside the typical need to manage items and enter a world where the story progresses along with the characters and their abilities. This game affords busy gamers a way to break away for a short period of time while continuing to enjoy strong story and character progression. This was easily one of the best purchases I've made on the switch next to Darksiders and Zelda. I will continue to pick these titles up for continued playtime; Children of Morta however will be the easiest to do so with. While Zelda can be picked up easily the open world requires you to determine how you intend to spend your time - exploring, locating unexplored temples, etc. - and Darksiders presents a similar conundrum as the end game leaves little to do, Children of Morta requires one simple question: "which family member do I want to take to any of the available dungeons". No matter where you are in the story, this is the only decision to be made to get some fun playtime in. Furthermore, a plus mode, which is available after completion of the story, allows you to reset the story and continue to progress the family with increased caps. Get this game and enjoy it for as long as you want!
