Going to the Dentist
My son loves Biff Chip and Kipper books and has recently got a few of the first experience books. These are good not only because of the reading but because the story incorporates aspects of the experience into the story. In this book Kippers class is visited by a man and his puppet and they talk about looking after their teeth, kipper later gets an injury and they go to the dentist where they find he needs a filling. The dentists office is briefly described and also they talk about why kippers having a filling and how to avoid them. The reading level is about where my son is now - he's going into year 2 but is advanced with his reading. The illustrations are great - typical Biff, Chip & Kipper. My only criticism is that for the first experience range this is more appropriate for a child who is unlikely able to read this yet as children should be going to the dentist before they can read - it would be good to a child about to visit the dentist the first time. Excellent book - would recommend if you like Biff Chip & Kipper books

Bought for 4 year old nephew who had refused to open his mouth for the dentist (won't open his eyes for the optician either!) - his most recent visit was a success, we've all been working hard on this one!

Perfect for calming nerves about the dentist
Perfect book to help my son who has ASD and for whom visits to the dentist haven't always been too successful in the past. This book, with familiar characters, (as well as buying) a cheap dentists' mirror) have really helped us a lot.
