First book to help me lose weight permanently--Seriously.
This book gets at the heart of weight loss--why we are/aren't willing to put in the effort to really lose weight and keep it off. It convicted me to the core--and because my HEART changed, my body/brain was able to follow suit. I only had the last five pounds to lose and was confused and angry with myself for always falling back into bad habits, no matter how much I wanted to lose weight. The Holy Spirit led me to this book (might sound nuts to some ppl, but oh well), and showed me the reason was because I wasn't willing to take up my cross--meaning to not eat when I'm not feeling the growl in my stomach. I needed to retrain my brain/body and that is not easy--that's why I kept not going the full mile. God touched my heart with this book and I'm almost done meeting my ultimate body goals.HOWEVER---I work in sports medicine and know my way around nutrition, and the diet advice (as to WHAT to eat/not eat) is really outdated. It is not okay to eat whatever you want when you're truly hungry--all in moderation IS the golden rule. You'll understand when you come across her tidbits about eating. You need fruits and veggies as the core of your diet to be healthy, not just to lose weight. eating lots of fat/sugar will not help you, yet the author says that food is always okay as long as you are truly hungry. I have to disagree...because biologically, we are not wired to eat that stuff on a regular basis...the body identifies it as toxic...BUT besides that, this book's stuff on the heart is excellent. Just read with caution about the diet stuff. God will help you know what you should eat, what's best :)

Effective, freeing weight loss without dieting
Such practical ways to understand hunger, fullness and how to deal with certain hunger and fullness situations that can be socially challenging. This book is for everyone who realizes the world’s way of counting, measuring and weighing our food is causing a food obsession instead of a balance. You really need to read and reread this book to get it to change your life, but hey, reading is a lot less intensive and frustrating than measuring and weighing food.I’ve lost 25 lbs in a few months of using Gwen’s wisdom, and it really works when you remind yourself to only eat when hungry then let God full the rest of your emptiness.

I lost 60 lbs...
This is a wonderful book. I struggled with my weight for many years and as a Christian I wanted to please the Lord in everything I did... I struggled with over feeding myself (as many of us do). This book is a great tool to explain what society has done and what we have allowed to happen with dieting and eating. We feed our mouth when it is actually our heart that needs the attention. I lost 60 lbs with the knowledge that this book equipped me with (IT WAS NOT OVERNIGHT, it took about a year with no exercise)! It is definitely SCRIPTURE centered - but as with anything... YOU have to apply it to your life. I have struggled with my flesh - wanting cookies and not actually being hungry. God wants good things for his children and we cannot abuse receiving those things whether it be money or FOOD! Excellent instruction to getting your heart right and understanding how society has taught us to control food! This book is life changing and it changed my heart... when my heart changed... so did my weight! I will be the first to say -- IT IS A STRUGGLE-- But, anything we do is a struggle when we battle the flesh. This book equips us to fight and uses God's word to do so... it teaches us to fight spiritually as well as fight the flesh! RECOMMENDED

You can permanently lose your weight!
By following the principles taught in this book, I have successfully lost 120 pounds and kept it off since 2006, for 14 years now. This is the only method I ever found for losing and more importantly, keeping off the weight permanently. This is the answer you are looking for!

Fat Christian?
As an overweight Christian, this was a must-have for me. I've lost 17 pounds in a month and a half, but more importantly, I'm learning to set my heart on Jesus like never before.

Most common sense approach to weight loss I have ever read
Reading this book really opened my eyes about how really everything we need to know about food and what to eat, and when to eat is really in the Bible. We rely too much on ourselves, and science, and not the only "rule" book we really need. It is really simple- there are no off-limits foods- just eat only when you are hungry, and stop at the first sign of fullness. If there are no "forbidden" foods, it is easy to eat less because you are eating the foods that you really want. My only difference in agreement with Gwen is that I stopped eating meat and dairy a couple years ago because I am so opposed to modern farming practices. To satisfy the American's greediness and hunger for inexpensive meat, animals are treated inhumanely, live in terrible conditions, are subjected to castration without anesthesia, and transported in terrible conditions. Although God gave us dominion over the animals, that is not to terrorize them and disrespect them. These animals suffer greatly from stressful crowding, barren environments that frustrate their instinctive drives, mutilations and amputations without pain relief (including debeaking, dehorning, tail docking, and castration), and other painful procedures.

Pray The Hunger Away
The first book was delivered in Spanish so ordered a new. Very disappointed. First kuddos to her being a Christian but basically eat when your stomach growls, in small portions and pray it away if still hungry. Also, no emphasis on eating healthy and discourages drinking ample water. Kind of weird!

The Last "Diet" you will ever need to be on.
This book is a wonderful book that gets right to the heart of over-eating. I know we don't always like the cold, hard truth, after all we live in a 'sugar-coat it and don't hurt anyones feelings' society, LOL. But believe me, if you want to lose weight finally, once and for all, buy this book and READ it and take Gwen's experience and advice. It's so easy. You will get more out of it than you think. I did the program years ago. I bought the book again to refresh and I'm so glad I did.

Motivating Book
Purchased this book for a colleague at work who needed some encouragement, I haven't read it. She was thrilled with it, and quotes it constantly. The book is inspiring her to make healthy lifestyle changes.
