I bought two sizes for my larger meat and smaller one for my pork loins that I stuff. String alone never held but this works great for my grill

Works but it us not the size advertised
It was supposed to be used with up to 6" diameter pieces. In practical terms it is up to 4", 3 1/2" in most cases.I had a 4" diameter peace I was able to fit in, but it was so difficult I would not try it again and limit its usage to 3 1/2" max.
