Im concerned about the charcoal tray. Direct heat on this metal surface will quickly make this metal tray deteriorate. What is the warranty?

Don't know about the warranty but I will say that I've used this grill extensively this summer and the charcoal tray seems to be holding up

crank does not turn to raise pan?

Yes the crank does allow you to move the coals closer and further from the food as the temperature changes.

What is the width from the end of the crank to the back?

The Cooking Grate size is 27.17x18.31 inch, the total cooking area is 497.48 sq. inches.

What cover fits this?

They have a Kingsford advertised with it that's supposed to work. The one we received was sewn a little sideways around the pipe but, it does work.
