This tool was used to adjust the action on a 1926 pacard Grand piano and was adequate for the job.

Good quality and the price is cheaper than ordering directly from Schaff. Would definitely recommend this to any piano tech or hobbyist.

The pointed side for capstans with a hole work really great and deserves 5 starsThe wrench style side for bolt-like capstans does not work as intended (as many have said): too thick, not graduated for various size of capstans and more. It actually looks more like a key spacer tool (the one to bend the pins under the key). Actually I think it would work great for that -- if it were the right size (it's too wide). So that side deserves 2 stars.If you need only the pointed side, go for it -- good buy at great price

The tool works fine but it arrived with rust on it so I had to clean it and polish it before it could be easily used.

This tool costed me a ton of time and labor. The piano I was working on had low capstans so, when I tried to use this wrench to adjust them, the head of it was too wide to even get in and adjust things! And, of course, I was on very limited time and didn’t have the time to just send the damned thing back and get a different one. I had to remove the entire action and then remove each key and very delicately use a pair of needle nose pliers to raise the capstans high enough to get this fat ass wrench in, THEN put the action back in, THEN start adjusting the capstans. It was a massive pain in the neck. Not to mention that some of my capstans are too high now because I can only lower them to the width of the wrench. I just don’t understand how a “universal” tool has such unfriendly dimensions. It seems like the simple fact of the wrench head being too thick significantly reduces the number of pianos you can use them on.All in all, I regret ordering this one. Spend a little more and get a tool with friendlier dimensions for working with small parts.

Very good tool for adjusting the capstans. A really good buy

The slotted end doesn't seem particularly "graduated". The head is also far too thick to fit between the top of the capstan and the top of the key in many cases. The pointed end is really, really pointy. I was hopeful, but I'd recommend putting your money towards a real universal capstan tool from a piano supplier.
