Wil cogently explains everything you need to know about VBT!
This book is a must have for anybody who trains with barbells. Wil takes all the research (going back 40+ years) and his experience competing and coaching, and distills it into something useful and actionable. This book is engaging without useless anecdotes, cogent without being dense.I suggest reading the whole thing cover-to-cover, then going back to the sections that are specific to your style of training. VBT can be a bit overwhelming because the machine can throw a lot of numbers at you. Knowing why a certain metric is useful for the lift you just did, but not useful for the next lift can really help cut the clutter and confusion out of the session.I often finish a book on lifting and have no idea where to start. How am I supposed to implement all the cool stuff I just learned? That didn't happen with this book. After reading this book I knew exactly what to do day 1 when my VBT device arrived and how to use that info to program future training blocks. The first day I used VBT I squatted a 20lb PR because I understood and trusted the science of VBT thanks to this book. On that day, my velocity was showing that I had a lot left in the tank, and it was right. My old method of estimating 1RM was just wrong, and left me undertraining for the majority of this training block. There are even a few templates in the back. Most coaches would charge more for those templates than the cost of this book!TL;DR: This is the best book on weightlifting I've ever read and I can't recommend it enough!

If you want to make improvement read this book
If you have ever left your workout frustrated or just completely feeling ripped apart and out of whack this book will help you. Learn to put numbers on your training not only for improvement, but for the know how of where to do your work for the day. Weightlifting isn't always about beating last weeks workout. Velocity based training will help you make decisions with training based on numbers that don't lie. This book is for both athletes and coaches. If you're passionate about training and/or coaching read Wil's book. It will help guide you with optimal ranges for the day and will help your athletes to understand why the numbers of velocity are so important in training. This will teach you to train smart and with a purpose each day.

Excellent resource on VBT for weightlifting and adding it to training!
Wil Fleming does a great job specifically applying velocity based training for Olympic weightlifting. He breaks down a complex subject and content into simple and digestible information for coaches to apply to training. The addition of citations and sources to back up the statements is a plus and appreciative. I hope that this ushers in new research and applications for our sport.I only wish there was a larger section on practical application of VBT for training with more anecdotes and samples from his or his lifters' training.

A complicated topic made easier!
Wil does a phenomenal job explaining how to implement VBT in training without completely overhaulibg existing systems. A well thought out and digestible manual that not only explains the science, but gives easy to understand actionable information. I bought an LPT unit 2 years ago and used it religiously for 4-5 months without really having a true direction in how to use the data, thanks to Wil I now have a much clearer understanding of how to put that data to use!

Practical and Actionable Information
Excellent resource for coaches and athletes alike who are interested in using Velocity to structure training. I am using a RepOne LPT device and this book is an excellent guide on how to effectively implement VBT. Wil explains both the WHY and the HOW of VBT specific to the sport of Weightlifting, filling the gap between current literature and application. Can't recommend it enough. - Tim Sinak

Well detailed and easy to digest.
Coming from a non coaching/programming background, the book is very easy to understand and learn how to apply VBT to all sorts of training. There are plenty of examples of applications of training, programs, and variations of how to use it. I can't wait to add this into my regular training.

Great material!
Wil does an excellent job putting together sound VBT research and providing clear examples of how it can be applied to both the main weightlifting exercises and their variants. If you are looking to get started using VBT then this book will help jump start your programming!

Good but not unique
Big fonts and almost the most of this is exactly on his YouTube channel. Normally a book is handy for lookup but it is not that nice layout.

Utile
Interessante ma pensavo fosse più dettagliato, buon acquisto comunque

Useful regardless of whether you track velocity or not
Wil does a great job of providing both the scientific rationale and practical examples of how and why to use VBT. If you know Bryan Mann or Dan Bakers research/content for VBT in performance based strength and conditioning it’s likely you’re already on board with the theory, but this book provides a start point and framework specific to coaching weightlifting using velocity as the key programming variable.Regardless of whether you go on to use VBT the information is relevant to all coaches.

It is not a camisole top but it is the heart rate monitor for weightlifting
It is not a camisole top but it is the heart rate monitor for weightlifting. This book is a great introduction to velocity based training (VBT)?covering all the basic information that you need to get started including what each of the 3 variants can offer. Hear rate monitors have allowed athletes to curtail their training intensity and in much the same way VBT has the ability to the same whilst still much is to learn
