Sylvia's Black-Eye Peas, 15 Ounce Cans (Pack of 12)

While living in NJ as a misplaced southerner I was in search of some blackeye peas and found Sylvia's and much to my surprise these peas are better than you can make at home and in a lot less time!! When we moved back to Texas we have been unable to find them in our local stores so we were thrilled to find them on Amazon. Only issue, beware that when you order the two cases your cans will most likely be damaged as they are shipped in the cases and only plastic wrapped so ever time the cases are thrown from truck to truck the cans take a beating. None the less...still the same tasty peas, just not in pretty cans! :-)

Up until about 12-15 years ago, you could find Sylvia's Black-Eyed Peas in St. Louis, Missouri. They are so good, and no other canned peas can compare. I've searched and searched, and was happy when I found that I could order them online. I was so sad, however, when they only sent half of my order, and the other half was an item I did not order! These peas are seasoned very much like the peas my Mom used to make from dried black-eyed peas.

In the reviews people raved about the flavor but I wasn’t impressed. I open a can of black eyed peas, add a tablespoon of bacon grease, heat it up and it’s just fine. Everyone has their own taste buds! This was a bit pricey so I won’t be ordering it again.

Awesome taste, the best seasoned black eye peas on the market. These are priced higher than others & I have tried to use seasoning on plain peas, but just does'nt taste near as good as their special spices. Love these, they are truly addictive, & the best choice for Blackeye Cornbread.I splurge twice a year for this case of 12 only because of the cost, my entire family loves them & have to keep some on hand for special occasionsto eat alone or in soups etc. sure makes them taste perfect.

I purchased a can so I could have black eye peas on New Year's Day. These are delicious, they competed well with childhood memories of my mother's cooking. The store was sold out when I attempted to purchase more a couple of weeks later, and I'm so pleased to find them here, and at such a great price. I enjoy them alone, and I love to mix them in with my rice, tomato and smoked sausage dish. Black eye peas are nutritional and good for you. Here you have all the taste, just by opening a can.

Wow, talk about deceptive labeling. The peas ingredients are nothing like what is listed. Here is exactly what's on the label: BLACKEYE PEAS, WATER, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, SALT, DEHYDRATED ONION, SUGAR, SPICES, NATURAL FLAVORS, NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR, CHICKEN FAT AND DISODIUM EDTA (TO PRESERVE COLOR) I wasn't expecting an organic product but monosodium glutamate is the third ingredient and none of the down home, soulful nonsense can change that one. I am hugely disappointed and will curtail buying from amazon unless I already know the product. Somewhere on this page we are warned that the product might not contain the ingredients listed, in this case, it contains more, and of a substance what most thinking people want to avoid.

These black-eye peas are the best I've ever eaten in my life! Unbelievable flavor!

The best canned black eyed peas I have ever bought. Very tasty and not mushy like other brands. Unfortunately it contains MSG which is a deal breaker for me. I would not have purchased if I had known about the MSG. Not good for migraine sufferers.
