Magpul Art of Dynamic Shotgun DVD (Set of 3)

This instructions in this set of DVDs are presented in a sequentially ordered manner to build skills upon previously mastered skills. The commentary also ties the methods demonstrated to the philosophy of use so that the viewer understands the underlying reasons for doing things in each option. The instructors were always professional and deliberate in their delivery of information and they know their stuff!The reason for my purchasing this set and other sets of Magpul instructional videos was for a civilian to get exposure to tactics and mindset of self defense with firearms. I found that DVDs were the way I prefer prior to taking live courses so that I already have a good base for the basics. With this set, I like the fact that they utilize many different models of firearms as well as show multiple options for dealing with each of their proprietary controls. It also covers malfunctions that are likely to occure and how to rectify the situation for efficient and safe operation.Even if you're a hunter who doesn't think much about the tactical aspects of using a firearm for self defense, this set is a good eye openner in using your hunting rigs in defensive roles.For those looking to learn about self defense, you'll also appreciate the sections on safety considerations when engaging with partners or teams.PS.... After watching hours upon hours of serious instructions, it was nice to unwind with the bloopers/gag reel section at the end of the set.... :)

These videos go over the basic priciples of shotguns. They cover the mossberg 500, remington, the benelli semi auto and a few others. They talk about how to learn your pattern at different ranges and why that is important. Then a ton of drills. The most useful one is how to switch between rounds for different target engagement and how to do it fast. The last disc covers types of shotguns and accessories to use and how to choose the right ones as well as the many different types of ammo you can use. Good video to get you started in using a shotgun effectivelyPro's It goes over some things I never thought of on a shotgun. tons of drills.Con's it didnt go over leading a target for like skeet shooting, The drills are good but 1/4 of them I would never be able to find a gun range to allow me to go off like they do. Its still good information to know if I ever needed it.

Magpul Art of the Dynamic Shotgun 2nd editionI purchased this after I had already watched Art of the Dynamic Handgun, and Art of the Dynamic Carbine Vol 1 and 2. I found that each of the Magpul videos recycles some of the basic concepts: shooting stance, positions, and movements. Dropping a knee, or going prone are the same. Costa is again the better speaker, although Travis does bring up some good points. The outtakes are hilarious as usual.The first and third discs are the most useful. The first disc covers a lot of the basics, like combat loading vs speed loading, which are great for remedial training. The third disc has a lot of the exercises in a more concise format with less talking. Sometimes Travis and Costa talk so much that it detracts from the instructional value of the discs.Overall: 4/5 stars, the first disc is worth watching for some remedial skills training but the rest of the program is essentially recycled from their other videos, but now with shotguns.

Disks one and two worked well. I did learn some new information. However the instructors are full of themselves and they are wordy. The videos are useful. Disk 3 did not work well in my players. I was able to view much of the content. Magpul Dynamics did a great job with the video work of the disks. Much of the coverage is superficial.

Lots of useful information and real life scenarios played out. This is like taking a very expensive and extensive course but from the comfort of your own home. Highly recommended.
