Works great but needs side straps
This is a great kayak loader. I’m on the high end of middle aged and getting kayaks on and off my car has kept me from getting out more. I struggled at first with the loader because the top and bottom straps are aligned so it does go to the right or left so if feels like the boat may come right off. My suggestion to the manufacturer is to add straps for the right and left of the trunk so it has 5 anchor points. I used my tie down straps and now I can get my 85lb 17’ tandem kayak onto my car by myself. If you own this loader try that. It makes a big difference. Would be a 5 star if it had those two more straps.Update: I can’t believe I got my canoe on my car all by myself in less than a minute. I haven’t used it in two years because getting it on was so hard on my back. Can’t wait to get it on the water.

19 Nissan Pathfinder
Love the ability to get my kayak up on top of my pathfinder alone. I’m only 5’5” and have really struggled in the past getting my 50lb kayak up and down without damaging it or my vehicle. This roof roller allows me a little more independence to be able to go out more. Some pros: easy to assemble, light weight, foldable. Some cons: 1. The hooks don’t fit super well into the space between the roof and the back door; I have actually found it easier to hook it to my roof rack. 2. The length is not adjustable; on the 19 (and similar model year pathfinders) this roof roller must be used on the driver side of the back door because of the placement of the rear wiper. In the video- it is shown touching the painted portion of the hatchback but with the size of the pathfinder it is still on the glass. If the length was adjustable the wiper wouldn’t be an issue. Over all- still a great tool and a game changer for me.

Great design
I was using a suction mount roller but they sometimes come off and that can be terrible when loading an 85 pound kayak on my car. This is easy to assemble, it is light but sturdy, and it is a breeze to attach to the car.The hooks are rubber coated and protect the paint well. Simply put the two top hooks in place and adjust the height. Once that is done attach the bottom hook and tighten to hold the rack in place. When you are done, loosen the bottom strap and remove the unit. DO NOT LOOSEN those top straps. Once you have the height right just leave them alone Every load after that it is just put the top straps in place, put the bottom strap ion place and tighten the bottom strap. Easy as pie.

Easy to use and good enough
Have tried this with Hobie Outback to Hyundai Santa Fe. It is easy enough for me to do it all by myself. No complex procedures. Very happy about it. I hope it can be a few inches wider. Because it is narrow, I was a little bit worried that it can not support the kayak well when loading and unloading

Best for light, narrow kayak.
Does not fit a mazda cx-3. The rear hatch is too short so the straps are too long too tighten. I was able too use a u-bolt to put under the rear but still not sturdy enough to handle a 70lb 38 inch wide kayak. Unless you do it perfectly it will slide right off the rollers.

Good product... for taller persons
I am 5'2" and I was unable to lift the full weight of my kayak to reach the roller. I then used a ladder and was able to gently lift the kayak onto the roller. I just could not fit the ladder in my car to use the Kayak roof roller after kayaking. So either I grow or buy a shorter car ( not an option) so sadly, I had to return it! It is a sturdy and well made product for taller persons. Not for the height challenged!

Item was used.
Paid for new but received used item. Box was not damaged but after opening discovered that straps on top were dirty, muddy and after taking out of box found other parts, straps were dirty, stained and also had a mildewy smell as if everything had been packed away damp and left that way for a long time. So I consider this item damaged and not what was ordered.

sturdy enough but a little difficult to use with kayak that is not almost flat on the bottom
It's usable but my kayak has a bit of a keel, not very flat on the bottom in the front and rear, which makes it hard to keep it from rotating as I roll it onto the roof - almost needs to be a 2-person job. It could use a guide like I see with this alternative product: Malone Auto Racks Malone SeaWing Stinger Combo w/Bow & Stern Lines. However, that is a much more expensive loader, so this is a reasonable trade-off. I think this Best Marine brand kayak roller is probably fine for simple relatively flat-bottomed kayaks, so-so for others like mine. Mostly giving it 4 stars for value. Probably more like 3 stars with my specific kayak.

This Product has been a life saver
If you are short or mature of age or just struggle to get that loved kayak onto the roof bars of your car. Then I am not sure whether there is a better product on the market. I use it nearly every day to load and unload my Kayak at my local river. No more struggling and dropping of the kayak and it leaves me with plenty of energy to enjoy paddling on the river and enjoying being in the great outdoors.
