A Secret Service

I loved this book. I found it first on Wattpad and after had to read all of Joy’s books. Carter is an awesome blend of quick-witted, sarcastic, tough, beautiful, and vulnerable. Joy manages to keep your interest through fast paced, funny dialogue and a fantastic action packed story line. I’m definitely not a teenager that this book is geared towards but it is a book that I have reread more than once when I wanted to immerse myself with well developed characters and a few laughs. A strong female character that is written this well is hard to find and Joy is fantastic at it. You should definitely check out her other books too! They’re great!

Where to start? I first found this book on Wattpad and I fell head over heels for it. A Secret Service is my go to book and I recommend it to everyone I know who loves to read. When Joy announced it was being published I was so excited to be able to have a physical copy of this book that I absolutely love. When she said she was changing some things I was on the fence at first but after reading the book with the changes I no longer feel that way. I can’t decide which version I like more: the first version on Wattpad or the new version as they are both so great. I finished this book in a couple hours and the entire time I was reading it I had a smile on my face. This book will always be my go to and I don’t think I will ever grow tired of reading this story.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Carter's sarcasm and her relationship with her Dad. It is perhaps unconvincional but they love each other wholely. I also enjoyed her friendship with Linc and Donavin and her feud with Mason. She really shouldn't stop hating him, it would ruin their whole relationship! It would be nice to have a sequel?! He has met her family so now she needs to meet his! And why would Carter's Dad have such a jerk for a friend? Linc's father refuses to step up and be what his sons need, he put his career before them! Side note, I loved that her joke about a Marine boyfriend became a reality! So good!!!

I was absolutely blown away by A Secret Service! I went in not knowing what to expect and was sucked into a a world of espionage and mystery. The main character, Carter Owens, was raised by her father who is a Secret Service agent. Her father trained her to disassemble any weapon, any situation, and anyone. I loved their relationship which definitely wasn’t conventional but you could feel that they loved each other unconditionally. I wasn’t a fan of Carter at first, she was a little prickly and suspicious of everyone. HOWEVER, she seemed realistic! I grew to love her and got a bit of a Sherlock Holmes vibe from her the way she analyzed and observed everything and everyone. Carter ends up making two unexpected friends who are hiding a secret. Joy has a way of bringing the character to life and making you genuinely care about them. Every single character was incredibly well developed. Not only is the storyline phenomenal, it is a fantastic blend of humor, action, and slow burn romance. I know this book is geared towards a teen audience, but I believe it is a story for all ages to fall in love with and enjoy. I don’t say this often but this is a MUST READ. A Secret Service has found a forever home among my favorite books of all time. I hope to possibly see a sequel someday but in the mean time I plan to devour all other books by Ms. Jenkins.Thank you so much for introducing me to your beautiful word ❤️

I had read other Joy Jenkins books on Wattpad and loved them. I didn't have the app for a while so by the time I got back on this book was super popular and also halfway through so I decided to wait. So glad I did! And having it in physical book form is just so great!I love the Gallagher Girl vibe! Gonna be honest. I did not really like Carter in the beginning. Which is good, because that made her realistic. For real tho, the character development in this book is just mindblowing. And yes I lost a lot of sleep...5 a.m. anyone? But of course, it was totally worth it.

As an avid reader I’m always looking for something new and this books check all the boxes. I first read this on Wattpad and I had to have a hard copy to my collection. Its got great humor, fun and unique characters characters, a badass female MC that will not quit, and a slow burn romance for a little extra fun. I would highly recommend this book and checking out other stories by this author on other paltforms!

So I first read this book on Wattpad, and I absolutely fell in love with this book. I still love the original version but with some changes added to the book, I can see how much more potential this book has. Its completely different from other books I've read, its not your original love story, there are some twists that really being out more of the characters and how they see the world and others. There's some action and comedy mixed in as well as emotional sadness that some people can relate, I know I can. The changes to the original story still fits very well and make the story line more clearer but both versions are still amazing. I love reading as well as watching movies and shows and even books that turned into movies and shows and I really hope this book gets the recognition that it deserves and become more, hopefully into a movie or show (if more books are created with this storyline 😉)

I love this book so much!! I was so excited when I learned it was going to be published. It’s the perfect mix of action, comedy, drama, and romance! You will fall in love with all the characters in this book! Especially Carter and her personality!

This has been one of my favourite stories for a very long time. The plot is riveting, and the characters are fascinating. Each and every one of them feels like a real person, and has their own challenges and obstacles they have to face throughout the book. I have got very attached, and wouldn't hesitate to take a bullet for any of them (but mostly for Link. Carter and Donny would probably have already dodged it and taken out the shooter. But it's the thought that counts, right?)Joy is a wonderful writer, she balances humour and compelling emotional scenes with ease. I'm cackling like a maniac one minute, and then a few pages later I am blinking away the tears, and very much in need ice cream. The moral is, I couldn't recommend this story enough. I have read it for free several times over the years, and still couldn't wait to find this book under my tree Christmas morning.

Bought this book as a present for my daughter’s friends 13th birthday but ended up reading it myself.There is a strong absorbing storyline but the relationships between characters makes this book particularly interesting.The characters are vividly drawn, three dimensional and I found myself genuinely caring what happened to them.It may be aimed at the young market but a great read at any age.More from this author please!

The story is funny and the characters are developed well. Carter is a fierce and strong girl but that doesn't mean she's not vulnerable. I enjoyed the story and have re-read it countless times because of the jokes and the heart-warming chemistry between Carter and her father as well as Carter and her friends.

Loved this!!Read it when it was free multiple times but still couldn’t wait to read it again. Once you pick it up you won’t set it down until it’s finished. Start 2021 off right with this book!

Honestly one of my favourite books, the author did an amazing job writing it. I’ve already read it for free but i just had to buy the book to have a hard copy to hold and read.
