197070 BD118 Lump Charcoal, 1.18 cu. ft, Medium, Brown/A

Good charcoal for traveling. Works well in my small clam shell grill. Compact and reusable. I don't get fancy when lighting. Just pile it up, douse with charcoal lighter. Will be ready to go in 10 to 15 minutes. Cooks hot and a long time. When done cooking, just close grill to cut off air, and it goes out. Makes tiny amount of very light ash. The next day, just pick out the remaining pieces of size and put in a bag back in the box. One box lasts at least one camping season. That makes it economical.

I don’t know how much this company paid for their five star review, but this product is absolute crap I’ve been trying to get it lit but using fire starters lighter fluid and charcoal briquettes for about 45 minutes now and it’s barely even warm. This product is absolute crap. I want my money back. 100% waste of time and money.

Having used this product for over ten years I can say there is no other that performs like this. The only one close is Primo brand but still not as good. I can regulate my smoker down to 175 degrees perfectly and any temperature above that. The consistent size and the density of the wood makes it a perfect burn. Getting high temps is just as easy to cook pizza at 600-700 degrees. Then just as they advertise, shut down the airflow and it will go out and be ready for several more cooks.I love how I can fill my smoker (Primo XL) and not have to reload it for a 18-20 cook of a large brisket. The brands with big chunks just don't let you get a no fuss temperature control. The other big GBrand just does not give you the regulation control.

The first few fires were good as the lumps were a good size. But as I got further into the box, it was almost all small chunks which burned up to fast and would not hold the heat needed. Not a repeater.

Works great, and burns clean! We are vegetarians who have a Big Green Egg, and enjoy cooking veggie pizza, calazones, and tofu/veggie skewers. We also hate smoky flavor that often accompanies most charcoal grilling. This charwood is great for what we are looking for - it burns clean with no real smoky flavor to our food. Glad I discovered this and looking forward to lots of great grilling ahead with this charwood!

Black Diamond Char Wood is a very good product, I'm on mt 7th cook using the same Char Wood.

After speaking with a rep at the Ace Hardware show, I was convinced buying boxed charcoal was the way to go. I basically received a box of crumbs, which is the reason I tried the boxed charcoal in the first place, An effort to reduce the waste of bagged goods. The pieces were so small that they fell through the bottom my chimney starter. I'll have to go back to my old brand, which I've now found to be the best on the market.

It was broken up too much. Better in larger pieces and chunks
