The Art of Drag Racing Paperback – 25 November 2011

John Jodauga was a very talented artist and journalist. He will be missed. If you like drag racing you will enjoy his book and artwork.

As the title indicates this book showcases the art John Jodauga, specifically his poster and press kit illustrations. Many of those pieces are reproduced in these pages along with his reference text. It is truly an informative book, especially for the memorabilia collector.

Well worth a look.

I would say that this book is for the hard-core fan only. Many of us older drag racing fans will remember these painting as promotions for either races, drivers, or products. Newer fans will view it as too nostalgic - especially since the art is in the "pop art" mode.

The Art of Drag Racing is a MUST HAVE book for anyone who has picked up a pencil and dreamed of being able to draw race cars. As an avid fan of the sport of drag racing and automotive art,and myself being a sign painter for 36 years, I've always admired John's style and subject matter as published in many of the automotive magazines, especially National Dragster. John has consistently captured the look of drag racing and other forms of sport that only someone who is passionate about his trade and the field in which he mastered his craft can have. This book is full of wonderful pencil illustrations and color paintings of the greatest stars of drag racing captured by John over the past 40 years. The Art of Drag Racing is not just a collection of his art but also a collection of stories that accompany the idea for the final painting, whether it be a press kit cover or a commissioned drawing.I'm sure it was a tedious chore to select the illustrations for this book having so many to choose from in his many years of producing great artwork but it's all here. So I have to say it again...it's a "MUST HAVE!" Looking forward to a sequel. Enjoy! I know I am!
