Useful and attention grabbing for challenged learners

I love having this book on hand for my kids to explore. I wanted a book that my kids could look at on their own to absorb some biology and anatomy whenever they find an interest. Some of the pages are creepy for my 3 year old but she is pretty young. She says, "I hate the cut up eye" which is a diagram of the internal parts of an eye. The design layout of the pages can be a bit overwhelming at times.I especially like the human reproductive pages. I use biology as the foundation for the sex talk with my kids. 1-2 years before I tell them about sex, I tell them all the biology of men and women. We look at the book and I explain pieces and they can ask questions. Then they have months if they want, to look at the pictures and ask questions before we explain more details.

This is an excellent resource for students who are studying the human body. Extremely informative, it does an excellent job of highlighting and discussing all the important aspects and stages of the human body without being wordy. I was impressed that DK took the time to touch on a bit of medical history, and that they also touched on how hormones work in a human body. A lot of body books skim over that topic, but it's an important one, so I appreciated the attention to detail.

Excellent book, with a lot of great pictures, perfect for my special needs adult son who is always interested in learning as well as others in the family who are also enjoying this book.
