Hopefully he's just getting started..
I became aware of Jonny Negron a year or two back, I believe after the Brooklyn Arts show from 2011. I've seen his work in Thickness, but I'd only seen single pages from the other comics that are reprinted in this collection. Collection is the wrong word, it's more an art book/single-man anthology hybrid, I suppose. The focus is on his painting/illustrations of various female forms. All very intriguing and all very much his own. The way the book is edited it really mimics the original way people saw these images (i think), Tumblr. It's the physical equivalent of a tumblr archive. It works quite well, intertwined with new & reprinted comic stories.Fight City I believe it's called, is a reprint but it stood out to me. Side-scroller games, street fighter, MJ's Thriller, Akira, The Warriors, and all the style you can fathom all thrown into a blender. The book itself is top quality paperback, the dimensions aren't large but that's how it goes with these sorts of things. There is a glossy dustcover over the paperback, with a really weird comic strip printed on the inside of it. So make sure you take the cover off and check it out. Overall for someone who had very little of the man's work and desperately wanted it, this was satisfying. I really hope there's more to come.

I love Negron!
I found out about Jonny Negron through Thickness and vice.com's comics section. This book has a lot of his hot babes in full color. It also has a comic called Violence City that I really like. There's another where a kid in a library steals pages from Matt Furie's Boy's Club 3. I wish the driver from Drive was in full color with the lettering like in the poster Jonny put out.

Big Butts and Hot Dogs
Quite a cool little book - mainly watercolours of amazonian big-butted women, doing things like eating hot dogs and ice creams in a suggestive manner, shopping for cucumbers, and lounging by swimming pools and tanning their boobs. Kind of like the illustrations you'd find in Vice magazine, in sort of a purposefully naive style, and very well done. My favourite parts, though, were the occasional little comics which were dotted about- it's worth buying for the manga-ish 12 page comic 'Violence City' alone. The paper stock is glossy, it's a softback, and the book is mostly in colour. The only downside for me is that I'd say a tenner is a little steep- I reckon around 8 squid is about right.
