I'm buying an iron with lots of steam holes so wouldn't this defeat that purpose by covering many?

The cover has many steam holes. It does not defect the purpose.

Can you use iron shield to on decals

To be on the safe side the answer is no! Especially if the iron is on a high setting the decal will smelt. I always use old pillow cases or old pieces of damp white sheet to cover the decal on a low setting but you must be careful.

yes, it has steam holes. I run a professional drapery workroom and use this almost every day, all day. I have had mine for over a year and it works great!!! I keep my large Rowenta iron on the highest setting and easily iron all kinds of fabrics with full heat and steam. you will not be disappointed!!!

Is this cover silicone or Teflon?

Im thinking its silicone. Whatever it is..its brilliant. I can iron all items wuthout needing to alter the temperature on my iron.
