Work Very Well
I have some resonator guitars and when a new bridge/saddle is needed they are not slotted for strings as this can vary by the guitar maker. I made some repairs to two guitars recently and these files make slotting so much easier and accurate. Highly recommend going with these as opposed to some cheaper options which simply donโt work that well.

Essential Tools for Nut Adjustments and Restorations
These Holmer Tapered Nut Files are a great addition to any hobbyist's toolkit, especially for those involved in guitar restoration, refurbishment, and making precise adjustments on pre-cut and pre-slotted nuts. The files are designed to create a smooth, U-shaped slot, allowing the strings to sit properly, ensuring accurate string height and preventing any unwanted buzzing or intonation issues. The set comes with three files, each color-coded, making it easy to identify the right size for the job. While they may not be the top choice for a professional luthier handling high-end, custom work, they are more than adequate for everyday tasks, particularly for those working on budget or mid-range instruments. I found these files to be particularly effective when refining factory-cut nuts that often require minor adjustments to optimize playability. They cut through material cleanly, leaving a smooth finish that minimizes the risk of string breakage at the nut. The tapered design is a thoughtful touch, giving you control over the depth and width of the slot as you work. One thing to note is that these files are best suited for minor adjustments rather than heavy-duty work. If you're dealing with a blank nut or need to create deep slots from scratch, you might find these files lacking in the range of sizes. However, for the price and the convenience they offer, they are an excellent value for anyone who needs to make occasional adjustments or is just getting started with guitar maintenance. Overall, I'd recommend these to any guitar enthusiast or hobbyist looking for a reliable, budget-friendly set of nut files. They do the job well for most common tasks and are a solid choice for maintaining and improving the playability of your instrument.

Great value for the cost
These are a great value for the money. Stew mac files are a bit better yes but for the cost of one stew mac file you get a whole set of these. If you are just trying to put final touches on a nut for standard gauge strings these are more than adequate.

May want to pass on these for guitar nut slotting. Please read.
These files may not be what you are looking for in cutting nut slots for your guitar. While they were actually pretty well machined, the tolerances are not accurate at all as far as slot sizes. This may be a consistency issue from manufacturing, and I wonder if these might be rejects from a factory. I'll list the good and the bad: Pros: 1.) they are evenly machined, and I did not have any inconsistency with thickness over the length of the file. 2.) They cut smoothly, but not as aggressively as other types such as the StewMac double-edged nut slotting files. This could be a pro or a con depending on whether or not you are used to the filing process. I think it would be a pro for a beginner who may need to avoid over-filing accidentally. That said, the cons may make this 'Pro' meaningless. Cons: 1.) The file thicknesses are not accurate. I Did some eyeball measurements comparing these with the StewMac double-edged nut slotting files, and this is what I found: The blue file is listed as .013/.036 but seems to be closer to .010/.048. The yellow file is listed as .017/.046 but looks to be .011 or .012/ .048 in reality. The red was listed as .010/.026, but looked to be .010/.036. So only one of the listed dimensions seemed to be accurate. 2.) The listed dimensions on the handle rub off SUPER easily. (Not that great a loss, as they seem to be pretty meaningless anyway. 3.) The cutting edge is tapered, opposed to the straight StewMac double-edged nut slotting files. I feel like this might be introducing inaccuracy in cutting, but that's just my personal view. You might be fine. 4.) The 'teeth' of the file are smoother/less aggressive than the StewMac ones. I know that I've listed this as a Pro and a Con, because I think it could be either, depending on what you are expecting from the files. All in all, I can't recommend these files for the purpose of accurately cutting guitar nut slots. FYI: I only tested these on a bone blank, so I cannot attest for their utility on other materials. Hope this helps someone.

Easy to use
easy to use and quite accurate although the guage is accurate but if you are using this for say 9-42 it's going to be too wide so use this for 10-46

Buy smaller ser than needed
I did not have any problem using these files for a guitar nut. However, I wish I had bought the .008 set. I use .010 strings, but the .010 file set ends up too wide in the end. I would recommend ordering 1-2 gauges smaller Also, remember, a thinner file will cut much faster thans a thicker one, so be careful when getting to the lighter gage string cuts. Otherwise, these files worked great, even for brass. I just used the file, the cleaned it every 10 strokes or so. They worked great. Better than paying StewMac prices, especially when they still say "Made in China" on them.

Good quality, ease of use.
File set contained the proper sizes for the string gauges I use on my guitars. The files are a good size, easy to grip and use. Since each file can be used for two nut sizes, a different slot size on each edge, it allows three files to be used for all six nut slot sizes, thus saving storage space. A good addition to my guitar working tools.
