A nice luxury - and then it's a necessity
From the beginning, this filter did a great job filtering out pet odors, concrete dust and other contaminants from my small 600sqft studio apartment. It's quiet in all but the most intense setting, and the automatic mode responds quickly and accurately to changing conditions (it doesn't like my cooking, as I tend to burn things from time to time). Since moving to the suburbs I have also used it in a garage to periodically purge that damp, mildewy smell. The Wifi function didn't work upon arrival, but that isn't a big deal - all control functions are easily accessible via the buttons on top. Tech support was responsive and helped me with this issue. Operating costs: Over the past 18 months, I have gone through 3 sets of Max filters, and I wash the prefilters perhaps every month or so on average. The replacement Max filters aren't cheap - even the third party ones run around $50 - but breathing clean air is well worth it. If you use the automatic mode and your environment isn't very polluted, you won't have to clean and replace filters nearly as often. The cost of electricity is very region dependent. One day last week, the air quality outside plummeted very suddenly due to the wildfires on the US west coast. AQI PM2.5 has gone beyond "unhealthy" and all the way to "hazardous". The smoke has blotted out the sun. That's when this filter really came into its own. It's been running at max speed more or less constantly without a hiccup. The "change Max filter" light has been on for much of that, but as I anxiously await a set of replacement filters it continues to clean the air efficiently (albeit with a little extra noise). My new home is 1,600sqft so I bring it into the bedroom at night, and then out in the living room during the day. Beyond keeping the air clean, having an air filter during an emergency like this enables you to run your A/C (which may bring in some air from outside), as well as vent some of the stale air (due to CO2 concentration) from your living space without fear of breathing in too much smoke. Given the rapidly evolving science on PM2.5 concentration and health, I wonder how many extra days of life expectancy this filter has added for me and my family. I fear that wildfire smoke is going to be an increasingly common occurrence, especially for those of us on the US west coast. You may not be able to fix the air outside, but at least with this filter you can sleep and relax in a clean air environment. Highly, highly recommended.

It doesn't mess around when it wants to purify your air.
Surprisingly this air purifier is not as heavy as it seems. The design is very sleek and clean, like having a very fancy box in your home for aesthetic purposes. The plastic seems very sturdy and great quality. The removable panels for the filters hook in place by strong magnets so that's a great plus. The filters are the green pleated type that filters out 99.999% of bacterial, dust, and fungal spores. High quality filter usually means expensive replacements in the future. The cord is jacketed and high quality, matches with the whole design of the unit. The instructions were very thorough and simple to understand but when I tried to connect it using the app, it took some time to get it working through the wi-fi. The buttons on top are touch-sensitive, so high tech it makes me uncomfortable because I'm used to the usual "push-click" of a button. Guess I'm too old school for these hipster gizmos. You will need to use a different app since the one that was made for this will be deleted. To our surprise, the air quality in our home was already rated good (highest rating), and thought that we just wasted money for a fancy air box that also works as a fancy night light with the lighted-up ring. The ring color tells you how the air quality is in your room as my picture shows, it means it's near perfect, 100% clean oxygen. It wasn't until we started cooking and all of the unventilated smoke started filling up our room that the Airmega really shined. It started screaming bloody murder and the ring changed to red, it cranked up the fans at the highest speed and got a bit loud but not loud enough where you need to scream at each other to talk, like our range hood does. Within a few minutes, the we noticed how quickly it got rid of the smoke and the room air quality went back to normal. The Airmega really takes its job seriously and we can rest assure knowing that we have an overpowered box that cleans up our air. Not looking forward to buying new filter replacements though. The only thing it won't do is babysit our kid and feed him.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND: The fundamentals of this air purifier are phenomenal, but skip the smart features...
This is a fantastic air filter/purifier but I wouldn't recommend buying it for the 'smart' features. I personally bought the 300S model but I would recommend the 400/400S if you can afford it. Below I first discuss the issues I have with the smart features, then the reasons why over all I am happy with the product. 'Smart' Features Automatic Night Mode: Unfortunately one of the primary reasons I purchased the 300S model was for the light sensor that would automatically enable night mode when the lights went out. However, the table in the description incorrectly lists the 300S model as having that light sensor. Only the 400 and 400S models are able to automatically shift into night mode when the lights are turned out. However, on the 300S you can schedule the night mode to turn on at a designated time. Air Quality Recording Resolution: A great feature of the S models is their ability to monitor and record the air quality of the room that the filter is placed in. Unfortunately, however, the recording feature doesn't work very well. The in-app historical chart showing the air quality over the course of the day is shown as a smooth line plot, with time on one axis and air quality on the other. I have found that the historical chart regularly displays the quality of the air as always very good and shows little variation in the quality, despite the real-time status of the air quality regularly spiking into the 'very poor' range due to my use of aerosols in that room. It seems as though the historical chart averages our the air-quality and smooths out the spikes so much that I have never seen the historical chart show anything outside of the very good range. In my opinion this significantly diminishes the usefulness of the feature. I also own a Dyson air purifier with an air quality sensor and I have found the historical chart for that device to provide a historical chart of air quality with much greater resolution. Air Quality Recording Delay: I have found that there is always a delay of about one hour on the in-app chart between the most recent quality reading displayed and the current time. This lag is also present in the Dyson that I own. I suspect that it happens because the air purifier sends only one datapoint to the Airmega servers once every 30 minutes or so, and that it takes a while before that data point is pulled from the servers to the app on your device. Not a big issue here though because the historical recording is basically useless. Scheduling: The only reason I would purchase an S model is if the scheduling feature is important to you, or the ability to control the device while you are away from home. One of the few nice things about the S model is that you can create a schedule for the device, directing it what setting to be on (Night, Auto, Low, Medium, or High) and whether you want the light ring to be on. It's great because you can create a different schedule for every day of the week. The only problem with the scheduler is that if you schedule it to run on night mode from 11pm until 8am, for example, at 8am the device will shut off instead of resuming the state that it was in prior to 11pm. Effectively this means that if you want to schedule it to be in a particular state during a particular time, you must create a schedule for it 24/7. Otherwise it will simply shut off at the conclusion of that scheduled activity. Personally I would recommend buying the 400 or 400S and leaving it on automatic night mode all the time--it will stay in automatic during the day and switch into night mode when the lights are turned off so long as the air quality is good. Reasons Why This is a Great Product Noise Level: I have this placed in my bedroom, so the noice that it creates is a principle concern for me. I have found that so many products are either too loud on their lowest setting or don't produce sufficient airflow to be effective. On Low or Night modes, this device operates silently. You cant hear that it's running unless the room is pin-drop quite and you put your ear right next to the device. Surprisingly even on low and night modes it does produce a good amount of air flow. Much more than the comparable Blue-Air and Honeywell devices that I have owned in the past. Personally I have begun setting the device on Medium while I sleep because it still is fairly quiet and I have come to appreciate the bit of white noise that it produces. The Filters: The filters that the Airmega uses are clearly very high quality. I don't have much more to say about them other than when you pick one of the filter up, you can just tell how well made they are. This device also has a pre-filter which I greatly appreciate much more than I had expected. I purchased this to reduce the amount of dust in my bedroom and the pre-filter does a great job filtering out a good portion of the dust. It is made of a super fine fabric mesh that I vacuum off once every couple of weeks. I'm glad they designed this with a pre-filter because I am sure that it will greatly extend the lifetime of the filter and help maintain high airflow through it. I have noticed a substantial reduction in both the amount of dust in my bedroom since buying this purifier, and the severity of my allergies. The Build Quality: Again it's hard to explain this one, rather it's something that comes intuitively after interacting with the produce. This device is both very stylish, thoughtfully designed, and well built. Attention to detail is evident in much of the design and oozes quality--down to even the braided nylon encased power cord. When you buy this air filter, you too will be impressed by how well this product is made. In conclusion, I have given this product four stars. Despite the inaccurate description on the product page for the auto nighttime sensor, and the rather poor air quality history and scheduling experience (why I deducted one star), the fundamentals of this air purifier are phenomenal and I would still highly recommend it to anyone who is hesitant on the price. It is an expensive product, no doubt, and it was painful for me to shell out this much money for an air filter. But, with this product you really get out the quality you pay for--unlike with the Blue-air products where you pay for just the aesthetics. Amazon has a generous return policy, so I would encourage you to try it out if you are hesitant with the price. But be warned, you're going to love it and wont want to send it back.

Four Years in and Still Impressed! Discover Coverage, Performance, and More in My Detailed Review.
We got 300S WHITE in April 2020. We were affected by the wildfires in the Bay Area and during the Covid pandemic, so we needed fresh air. Coverage. 300S / 300 model can fully change the air every 30 min in 1,256 sq. ft coverage and assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8ft. If the coverage is 628 sq. ft , the air will be changed every 15 min. 400S / 400 model can fully change the air every 30 min in 1,560 sq. ft coverage and assuming the height of a ceiling to be 8ft. If the coverage is 780 sq. ft , the air will be changed every 15 min. You can use this logic and calculate approximate numbers for your place. Noise level. The noise level, based on the attached Certificate of Performance, ranges from 22db - 52db subject to the mode of operation. We only find it slightly noisy when it runs an intensive cleaning, otherwise, it goes virtually unnoticed. No weird smell. It's noteworthy to mention that unlike another purifier we previously tried that had a strange filter smell, the 300S model runs odor-free. The air quality feedback. The interactive light feature on the model provides real-time air quality feedback. If left on, the light changes color according to the air quality as follows - — Blue and green for good air quality. — Green and yellow for moderate quality. — Yellow and pink for unhealthy air. — Pink and red for very unhealthy air conditions. Performance, maintenance, and management. - The model comes with five operational modes (Smart, night, level 1, level 2, and level 3). - It has an auto setting feature that turns on automatically when the air quality deteriorates, a common occurrence when we accidentally burn food while cooking. - It incorporates a two-filter system, offering convenient notifications reminding us when to clean the pre-filter (just a simple wash) or replace the inner filter (about $43 per filter). - The air cleaner can connect to Wi-Fi and comes with a mobile app, which pushes air quality notifications to your phone in real time. - The scheduling control feature allows us to set the operation based on our daily routine. Other: - It's light and portable, so moving it around the house is quite easy. - The design is aesthetically pleasing - the white variant looks trendy and minimalist, which adds to our interior decor. - The durability should be highlighted - it has been four years, and it’s still working flawlessly. Overall, we are thoroughly satisfied with the 300S WHITE air cleaner and highly recommend it if you are looking for cleaner indoor air.

An absolutely priceless piece of equipment!
I have been using the AirMega 300S for almost 2 weeks now and I am absolutely dumbfounded, but, wonderfully pleased, by its operation, efficiency and its wonderful performance. This is the 3rd different air purifier I have purchased in the last few months, but, the only one worthy of keeping. First of all, it is so quiet that my wife doesn't even mind it, and she is not a 'fan' of fan noise. This machine's low noise levels defy its hefty power..it is wonderful! The iOS app shows even tiny specs of offending dust, smoke and other particles being cleansed by the unit as it is incredibly sensitive to any particulates. I read a lot of negative input about the iOS app but I bought the app-controlled 'S' unit anyway. What I can tell you is that the app is a bit strange when installing, like it's not completely developed yet, but, I was able to get everything working. Coway has some work to do to get the app up-to-speed as a polished controller for such a wonderful machine, but, I am OK with that as it provides levels of reporting and control that ultimately do work and, as an app, can only improve from here. In summary, do not hesitate to consider Coway's AirMega-series of purifiers if you are looking for the ultimate in air cleaning machines for your home. I would never think twice about recommending this series to others or to purchasing another for myself!!

Needs better set-up instructions and they need to fix the Alexa skill since it no longer functions!
I'm updating my review to remove all stars. I notified this company that the Alexa skill no longer works about a month ago. After some initial back and forth they checked into and discovered I was right and that is issue surfaced at the Vegas tech confenece. A month later, and STILL NO FiX. So when they say it's works with Alexa, don't believe them, and they still don't know how to fix it. Amazon should be ashamed that Airmega still claims it works with the Echo. The separate wifi app itself works fine though and the machine is functional. I just feel cheated since the whole reason I bought this model was for the Alexa activation. There are plenty of much cheaper alternatives without it, and you want to consider those instead. ---------------------------------------- I tried several times to set up the device, wasting about two hours. Nothing worked, the wifi set-up would not go through no matter what I did, so no App or Alexa controls. Later I tried using the 2.4 GHz version of my wifi network instead of the 5 GHz. Then the set-up worked. Customer service later verified that it only works on a 2.4 network. They could have saved a lot of frustration if they just that. Poor instructions in the app left me hating the brand. However, as an air cleaner it seems to work super so far, much better and more powerful than any air cleaner I've had. The smart mode is reactive and the voice commands w Alexa also function. The issues I found related solely to the wifi capabilities.

Excellent Smart Air Filter!
A bit nosey on 3 speed (I’ve only used it on full blast and plan on doing so for about a month!) and almost completely silent on 1! but very good air purifier, I didn’t expect it to blow so much air around it feels as if I have a fan on when I run this thing! I love the Alexa capabilities it has and it’s integrated with my smart home. I was debating on buying this or the Dyson air filter and seen that this has better reviews than the Dyson. It’s a white block though which I’m not a fan of hahaha I will decorate it soon and maybe repost this review with pictures 😀

Skip the "S" upgrade.
I purchasd the 300S, the product itself is good, quiet, smart, will run when it detects abnormalities in the air. It does its job and what you expect for an air purifier. It looks stylish and it's easy to use. My problem with this item is the app. It requires access to contacts and storage. I do not understand why an air purifier needs access to that... So save yourself some money and just purchase the version without the app. The app wasn't able to provide detailed information like my dyson would on VOC, NO2 etc. I'm contemplating on returning this unit for this very reason.

Excelente producto
No hace ruido Se respira la diferencia Se puede controlar fácilmente desde la aplicación, aunque la aplicación no es la más rápida a comparación de las demás aplicaciones. La aplicación muestra gráficas y datos en tiempo real. Lo volvería a comprar

Great filter, Noticeable Improvement in Air Quality
The app works fine, running it on both iOS and Android. The fan itself is good. When it's on low the noise level is negligible, if you run it at medium or high, yes it makes noise. On medium, if it's in the same room as you you'd want to turn it to low while watching a movie. For day to day activity medium speed produces a tolerable amount of noise. Smart mode does a good job, alternates between sleep and low for the most part unless it sense dirty air. Collects a lot of dust out of the air. It monitors both filters in percentages, so when you get to 0% maintenance is required. For the pre-filter that mean it needs a cleaning which is usually a good vacuuming or you can wash them off. For the main filters it would be a replacement. The air feels lighter and smells better after this has been running. The air the comes out is slightly cooled if anything. Has a side bonus of being the first device in the house to issue a warning of an unstable wifi connection... All in all, love it and will get another one for upstairs.

Wish I Knew This Before Buying
DOWNGRADED TO ONE STAR after 2 years. Frustrated. The stupid app keeps wanting me to log in and then nags me with a message to change the password every 30 days—IT'S AN AIR PURIFIER, NOT A BANK! If I NEED to control via Wi-Fi, I can do that by voice using Alexa, or whatever your smart home controller is. CARBON CHARCOAL FILTER: crucial for smoke and odour. It needs to be changed EVERY 6 MONTHS. My issue is that it's PART OF THE HEPA FILTER (which is on a yearly replacement) and cannot be separated. That leaves you stuck for 6 months with severely degraded smoke and odour control. ...unless you're willing to fork out a hundred bucks every 6 months . There is no reason for the charcoal and HEPA not to be individual components. The old Honeywell Industrial models did this. There was significantly less plastic. ROOM SIZE: This unit is advertised as able to purify 1,200 ft sq. Impossible. Mine is 750 ft sq w/10 ft ceiling. I have the Coway placed not quite in the centre yet half my place needs dusting daily. GET TWO smaller units to create a more effective cleaning footprint. RECCOMEND THIS FOR: a living room, bedroom, kitchen or small apartment—maybe 500 ft² with an 8-ft ceiling. FUN FEATURE: Unit immediately ramps up to high and gradually reduces speeds as air quality in its IMMEDIATE VICINITY improves. SENSITIVITY of AIR QUALITY SENSOR is adjustable. A novel feature if you only want your air purified when someone is smoking nearby or cooking. THINGS TO CONSIDER: a couple the STRONG selling points are misleading: 1) ALERTS to clean or change the Pre or HEPA filters are not actually sensing filter congestion/efficiency, They are only timers which can arbitrarily be reset. My cat discovered this for me when he walked on it. 2) Coway filters are grossly overpriced. There are many companies selling replacements (free shipping Prime) 100% equal to OEM at ¼ -½ the cost. It's been running on high 24/7 for almost 2 years and is still working, still as quiet as it was from day one. SUGGESTIONS TO COWAY FOR FUTURE MODELS: •Include a physical remote control. Keep the app if you must, but know, it doesn't clean the air any better but does detract from the user's enjoyment and ease of use. •Give the ability to lock-out the physical controls or make a slide-open cover. That way cats or other pets who enjoy a stroll on it won't change the settings or reset the filter change timer. •An environmentally sound move would be to design the unit with remote control codes (like your TV does). We've all got unused programmable remotes lying about -waiting to add to a landfill. Thanks XoXo
