Amazingly fresh coffee beans
This coffee is fair trade and organic. Two things that mean a lot when it comes to food. They donate 10% of profits to the amazon rainforest. A great cause that helps restore and preserve the rainforest. They only stock a certain amount to be shipped out which helps with freshness. And, the bag has a special valve that they claim lets gas out but not back in. This is to help prevent the coffee from going stale. I believe this because this coffee smells amazing and there is no stale smell that comes along with coffee that has sat on the shelf for a while. The smell is something I wish I could bottle and use as a kitchen refresher spray. My husband ate a couple of the beans right after opening the package. He said they were really good. When he ground the beans and then brewed them the coffee smelled so good. It's smooth but has a really good coffee flavor that I always want in my coffee drinks but can never get easily. The coffee claims to be dark roast and I usually dislike dark roast as there is a slight burnt smell and taste usually. This has none of that and is really smooth. $15 for 12oz is fair when you think about the fact that it is fair trade, certified organic, and they donate 10%. I do try to lean more towards budget friendly coffees but this is a nice treat once in a while to splurge on. Overall this is a great coffee product.I received this product for free or at a discount. The only requirement was that I give an honest review. There is no reward for a positive review and no punishment for a negative review. This was my honest opinion of the product. I only accept a free or discounted product if I or my family will use the item and want the item. I know that I rely on other reviews prior to purchasing an item and I hope that you found this review helpful.

Smells like a Good Morning
I have never ground my own beans before, but I recently purchased a hand grinder needed to try it out, so I purchased this Organic Fair Trade coffee. I chose no-rush shipping because, as the name implies, I was in no rush and that $1 digital music credit is so enticing. To my great pleasure, however, the coffee arrived just as quick as it would have if I chose two-day shipping! The company is on their game when it comes to shipping... and coffee, as I learned.I tore open the bag and took a deep sniff. My nostrils filled with the scent of a good morning. It smelled like I didn't even need to drink it in order for the caffeine to do the job. The coffee simply smells strong. Normally, a dark roast coffee has a bit of a burnt pretzel smell to it, but this was a rich, heavy aroma that warns you of the coffee you are about to experience. If you're looking for a weak cup of Maxwell House, you have opened the wrong bag.Granted, you could make this coffee as weak or as strong as you want depending on portion, but if you choose to make this coffee weak you are doing a disservice to coffee lovers and should stick to K-cups. I used my hand grinder to make a course grind and put them in my single-serving French Press. After completing my fancy-coffee-French-Press-science-project I poured it into my mug. Black. The true test. It was dark. If I dropped an LED light into the middle of the mug, I'm not sure if I would be able to see it at the bottom. A quick swirl of the mug and the edges of the liquid fell down the side of the porcelain almost like wine on a glass. It was full bodied, not watery. My first sip surprised me. It was smooth, not a hint of bitterness. A few seconds later, I waited for the aftertaste of burnt beans, but it never came. The coffee looked as though it was going to have the thickness level of cough syrup but it was light and delicious. This was the type of coffee you could enjoy during a blizzard or staring at the ocean on a Caribbean beach.I am obligated to say I got this product at a discount for my honest review, and that is what I gave you. I honestly believe that if you go through the process of grinding these beans by hand and then reach for the International Delight creamer you should probably be barred from morning beverages until you write this company an apology letter.

Awesome coffee!
Let me start by saying I recently discovered my passion for coffee and I have very little experience making coffee that requires more effort than heating up water and adding the disgusting instant mix.I just got my first French press and I'm experimenting with different coffees and methods. So back to the point - this coffee is amazing!I was a little wary that it might be too bitter because the description said Dark Roast, i.e. burnt. But it was perfect, I think it's more like medium roast. The taste is really good - mild, smooth and and delicious. It is full bodied and it has a very rich aroma. I love the feeling of opening up the packet in the morning and taking in the great dark roast smell. In terms of preparation, so far I've been using my French press. I grind the beans to medium and use them like any other coffee. The coffee is Fair Trade so at least you know they treat their everyone in the production chain fairly and do not exploit their farmers. It is organic of course, and I wouldn't expect anything else. And best of all, the seller donates 10% of their profits to help preserve the Amazon rain forest! Because we all love our coffee but we don't want to kill our planet while we are indulging in our simple pleasures.I was lucky enough to receive this product at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I have to mention this disclaimer however, I am not affiliated with the company and I am in no way obliged to provide a positive review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
