As someone studying to lead prayer service (a Sheliach Tzibbur) I had begun a journey to find my voice. I am very lucky to have ended up fining an outstanding Voice teacher as well as great Cantorial teacher. The Cantors in the city have get-to-gethers on a monthly basis (I promise I am getting to the point about this book) and recently had an eminent Canadian Tenor come speak to us. He first did a very challenging Cantorial piece and then proceeded to say: "Remember when you started and you did Italian songs and arias as part of your training? I've got news for you. This is something you should do every day for the rest of your singing career. This and proper vocal technique will allow you to sing for many years past the time when most people can no longer sing". This is the best of those books. My voice teacher always chooses this version as the best choice of Italian and the best version. The piano cd is an enormous help (unless you are such a diva that you have a live-in rehearsal pianist). Enjoy!!!

Singing in Italian is so much fun, and this book just makes it funner! I like pretty much every song in here, but my absolute favorites are Caro Mio Ben, Sebben Crudele, and Gia il Sole dal Gange. (Sorry if I messed up the spelling- I don't have the book right in front of me.) But yes! This book is easy to read (in practically every way) The songs are easy to learn, as long as you are confident and okay with messing up on occasion. The CD is very helpful for when I need to practice and I don't have anybody to accompany me. Over all, I would totally recommend this book to any singer, or pianist.

Nothing to not like. It is a series of songs used by vocal instructors for years. You can download backing tracks using a code in the book which is a very nice feature. Well worth the money IMO

So I told my choir teacher if she can teach me how to sing correctly with just her and I and she recommend to buy this book and she said to come back when it arrives so that's exactly what I did

This is the classic; there are more modern books that go back to the original music, but these romanticized versions have been the standard for years. Accessible price, and comes with an accompaniment CD.

classic, and the available accompaniment is helpful. someone needs to make a version with a sturdier cover for use!

J'aime beaucoup ce florilège de chansons d'époque baroque;elles sont ravissantes et les airs particulièrement réussis; le CD d'accompagnement au piano est très agréable aussi. Un excellent outil d'entraînement pour les apprentis chanteurs ... et les autres!!

This is a lovely collection of Italian songs and, when I bought it, was incredible value for money. The CD of the piano accompaniments is clear and useful for occasions when a piano is not available. The paper quality is good and it is an edition from a respected publisher. I have found an wrong note in one of the vocal parts, but only a small error, easily seen and rectified. All in all, a very useful collection.

How can you fault 24 song scores plus a programmable CD for £1.00. It arrived by return, so was available for the class after it was recommended. I haven't tried changing the speed of the accompaniments as they suit me at present, but it's helpful to know the facility is there. The variety of song styles is good & it is ideal for a singer who wants to develop their technique. Excellent.
