Less expensive but Definitely not Less For your Money!
Very informative with info on each breed identified, the test was easy to use and my dog was not cooperative so that was Wonderful! Results delivered to your email so no long wait for results by snail mail! Very interesting and very sensitive because I was worried we didn’t get enough of a sample because my dog was thrashing around while I tried to Sean her mouth but No! We got perfect results and some breeds we had never even heard of but they make sense with her personality! Highly recommend!

In accurate, not even close.
Do not buy this. Horrible. Completely inaccurate. My dog is not any of the three breeds they said he was. I mostly bought this testing kit for fun, to confirm what is known and nothing on the test results came close. It said my dog was divided into three breeds, fairly equally. If they had gotten it correct with his any of his actual breeds, and maybe said he is a tiny bit of one of what is known, then maybe I’ll except it as possible. But, it’s not true in the slightest. Also, the results gives you a chart of your dog’s predispositions towards various things, such as trainability, personality, food motivation, playfulness, how good his sense of smell is, etc. None of those matched him at all. I can’t even say there was a single thing on the entire test results that is close to accurate. The only thing I can assume is if it is not a scam, then they possibly confused my dog’s DNA with another’s. Furthermore, my dog is not around other dogs and doesn’t socialize with other dogs and use their toys. There is zero chance he would’ve gotten his test mixed up with another dog’s DNA at home. I was very hesitant to try a canine DNA test. However, this one looked good and I put my faith in them and their abilities. Now, I am beyond disappointed. It was a complete waste of money and time.

Updated review;Very accurate test, great customer service
Second updated/edited review in 2025: I submitted a review in 2023. I just wanted to do an update and give another five star review for yet another DNA My Dog test I used. We brought home a new puppy in 2025 and I ordered a DNA test first from embark because the DNA My Dog test noted that there might be a Canadian postal strike, so instead I ordered a test from Embark. I was very displeased with the embark results. So then I ordered a test from DNA My Dog as the postal strike never happened. I was again just so pleased with the results. I like the CNV testing that DNA My Dog uses where they keep micro-ing down to get the specific dog breeds. They use a different method than embark or wisdom.. You can write them and they will send you the scientific information on how they do their testing. The DNA My Dog test was right on from what I knew about our puppy. The DNA My Dog test showed that she was 28% toy poodle, 15% miniature poodle, 15%Cairn, 15% cavalier, and the lessers were 14% Husky and 13% Corgi. The embark test did have poodle and husky on them in different amounts but nothing else was the same and had some very large breeds listed. First three photos are of our Lily who we lost due to neurological problems in 2024. The fourth photo is of our new puppy Lucy. You can see due to her phenotyping that she looks like poodle and Cairn terrier. I love DNA My Dog! Will not do any other DNA testing with anyone else. First review in 2023:Their DNA results for our little Lily were very accurate. She is 20 lbs and not quite 15” at shoulders, and very small boned. We sent none of our thoughts on her parentage or photos to DNAmydog. I have shown all-breed dogs for years. We definitely saw Border Terrier, Jack Russell, and maybe Boston Terrier in her. She has terrier wire back coat, and the wire hair fuzzies on face, chin, neck and paws. And when results came back it was 36% French bull dog, so that is why I guess we were thinking Boston. But then we could really see the Frenchie in ears and across the eyes, and the top skull when she did not furrow her brow. The Frenchie also explained her underbite. Also testing showed Border Terrier, Parsons Jack Russell, MinPin and Min Poodle. They use the CNV testing which I have researched is more accurate than the SNP testing. I did another DNA test with Wisdom after for fun. Terrible results! Pit Bull, Staff, Amer Bull Dog, Rottweiler, Lab, Boxer, Poodle, Chihuahua and Cocker. No way! Bad experience. Do the DNAmydog! They are in Canada so sample takes about 10 days to get to lab from USA but worth it.

Happy to know our pooch
I was very happy with the results of this test for my dog, who I recently adopted from my sister. We’d all disagreed for years on his breed and I’m so thankful to finally have it confirmed. The kit came with clear instructions on how to perform the test, but with how squirrely my dog was during it, I was worried there wouldn’t be enough saliva to get accurate results. I emailed the company and they responded immediately, assuring me that they would send me a new kit if they were unable to get a reading. It took over a week for them to receive my results after I sent them back and then two weeks from that date to receive the results, so not as expeditious as they claimed, but less than other tests. It was also much less expensive than other tests but you have the option to choose a more expensive version to get additional results, or you can upgrade afterwards to get those additional results regarding allergies and other health issues. I was only concerned about the breed since I am already aware of my dog’s many allergies and we have them under control. Anyway, my sister always suspected that he was a Jack Russel terrier and pit bull but after we adopted him, it was pretty clear he was part chihuahua and the test confirmed it. Chihuahua, AmStaff (and he is so much like my other fur baby mix who is also AmStaff), and two kinds of pincers. The test results felt very reliable and I was really happy I did it.

GREAT PRODUCT AND SERVICE
Ive used them twice and been pleased with the service. Its fast and easy. I was surprised by my dogs results. He was a stray that showed up that i was sure was part coyote. He ended up being 9 different breeds. Ive never even heard of a bernese mountain dog. I highly recommend DNA my dog!

DO NOT BUY! Complete scam
This will be my second review as the company had amazon delete my first review as they apparently didnt want my information to be see. Publicly. Pictured is my dog I had tested. This dog barey weighs 30lbs and is primarily a decker terrier, however we as a family wanted to see if she had any mixes in her and just overall get more info on our adopted pup. Again we already know she is primarily decker terrier, she has the exact size, coloring, eyes, ears. Tail and also the distinct traits deckers have such as forehead wrinkles. Upward swept tail, etc etc. My test was done perfectly, no other dogs in our house so contamination is impossible. We sent the results in the day after Christmas and it took a month exactly to get results. This is where it was very frustrating. We got the results back and like several others have said, they were so far off from our dog it is a physical impossibility that our dog is a mix of any of the breeds listed. Our 30lbs known decker rat terrier came back with 3 breeds, the first two were Lab and Boxer and a mixture of 40-60% each or level 2 on their test meaning she is basically half if each. Both these dog breeds are not only way bigger than what she is in height and weight but have distinct traits that our dog does not have such as boxers short snout and face with a blocky head, long legs, etc. The third breed comes back the only terrier breed found and listed as a trace amount of less than 10%. Oh ok well at least they came up with a terrier right? WRONG! The terrier breed listed was an American Staffordshire Terrier, a 50-80lbs massive dog with a pitbull like head and very thick body. Every single dog listed is over 50lbs, if she was any mixture of those 3 she wouldnt look anything like she does. And would weigh about double what she does. Moving forward I contacted the company through email in which they were prompt to respond initially. I purposely left out the picture on my test as to not skew results after reading the company may do this. In my email to them I supplied the same picture on this review after going back and a few emails regarding the results. The company claimed there is no refunds and the test is accurate. That was until they saw the picture of my Boxer/Lab/Staffordshire mix they claimed. Thats when emails stopped, they havent discussed or responded to my email since asking for a retest to prove the results. Why is this? Because they know their test is a scam, and couldnt possibly come up with those breeds for the dog listed. I would even buy another test if I knew Id be refunded for the false test, but to no avail they stand by their results that my 30lbs decker rat terrier is a Boxer Lab mix. Keep in mind no where on the results were the actual known breed she is, but DNAmydog doesnt care about papers, parent bloodlines or anything, their sham tests trump all the known history of a dog, not to mention common sense. I would question all the results from their lab, especially if you submitted pictures previous to results. Hopefully Amazon lets this review stand and stops supporting companies that are taking money for a product that is obviously not real. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND NOT LISTEN TO THESE REVIEWS. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Accurate Dog DNA Test Results—Easy to Use & Worth the Swab!
Delivered exactly what was promised. Swab was very durable, as was the packaging. My little dog didn't really care for the swab, but she did okay and it had more to do with me putting it into her mouth and cheek as this isn't normal to her. Packaging design was good with easy information to follow, and it was sturdy for sending it back through the U.S. mail to DNA MY DOG. It was easy to set up our account online to receive results, and the company's communication was great (letting us know when results were ready). We really enjoyed learning more about our dog. After comparing many other similar services, I feel DNA MY DOG is a very good value and provided exactly what we wanted to know. We will use this again for our new rescue pup!
