Buyer Beware! There are TWO versions!
So originally, Marvel released 3 trade paperbacks of X-Men related issues that tie into the big “Civil War” event. Civil War: Wolverine; Civil War: X-Men; and Civil War: X-Men Universe. All three were collected into an oversized hardcover just called Civil War: X-Men, but with the cover of Civil War: Wolverine. But Marvel RE-released the Civil War: X-Men TPB, only this time it combines the issues included in Civil War: X-Men Universe (Cable & Deadpool, and X-Factor). Even though Amazon’s listing says it just includes Civil War: X-Men 1-4, it says “New Printing” with a release date of Sept. 2016, so it’s definitely the re-release with Cable & Deadpool and X-Factor issues also included. Unfortunately the hardcover collecting all issues is long out of print and online sellers are asking way to much money. The X-Men aren’t involved much in Civil War anyway, so these aren’t necessary to understand the main story, and they aren’t even necessary reading for X-men canon either. But I don’t care much for Marvel’s big events unless they directly involve my favorite mutants, so trades like these are nice where I get to read about the larger Marvel Universe through the eyes of the X-Men. Some people will say it’s irrelevant without the main story, but I know enough that I’m not going in blind.

Four Stars
good read

Not all I'd hoped for, but still very good.
I don't know much about the Civil War run in Marvel (or much about comic books at all, mind you), so bear with me,This collection contains 4 issues dealing with the X Men, who are struggling with their allegiances in the Marvel civil war but seem to have decided to side with Captain America, 2 issues concerning X-Factor that are pretty obscure but revolve around Quicksilver, a few issues with Deadpool and Bishop, and finally bios and notes at the end.It wasn't all I was hoping for. The initial X-Men story was pretty lame but still good. The X-Factor story was boring and the artwork just simply wasn't my taste. The final bit with Deadpool and Bishop was the real coup de grace here. The story centered on Deadpool was interesting, fun, the art was stellar, and it was funny. That being said, I still give this four stars. My expectations were pretty high, and it came close to meeting them. This probably isn't the best entry point into the Civil War drama, but be warned, if you pick this up you will be hooked and want to collect the rest of the Civil War run!
