Yes, the edges are sharp but it is as accurate as my machinist's squares
After rounding off the edges, I used it on a project yesterday and was impressed by the solid feel and that the ruler stayed where it was set. I like that the metric and inch scales are on the same side of the rule, I just wish it was like that on the other side. I also like the scribe being screwed in, not a pressure fit.

worth the cost
Don't believe bad reviews on this square, it performs perfectly and appears to be very well made.It is a carpenters/tradesman's square, not a machinist square and performs as such.For the cost it is far superior to many squares I have used in the last 50 years as a tradesman.The accuracy of this product is more than adequate for it's intended daily duties.

Not square
The square is not 90 degrees. Any other function is useless if the main function is not delivered.Also the cm scale is only on one side of the ruler, not both.
