what is this made of?

The lacrosse balls are made of 100% rubber construction.

Do you provide a manual that will teach me how to properly use these therapy balls?

There was no documentation with the therapy balls that I received. My instructions were provided by a physical therapist.

Can you heat or freeze them?

I pretty sure you can't heat them up. Doing so would probably damage the balls. You could probably freeze them put I'm sure they wouldn't stay frozen very long. Personally, I place the balls on the floor, about 1" apart, and lie down on them face up. I then slowly move my body along the floor which causes the balls to move down my spine. Feels great when the ball comes in contact with a pressure point.
