Book
I have enjoyed what I've read so far from these authors. This one though felt short changed, it had so much potential but felt a lot was left out that could have made this a great story. Did not care for the ending., to me it did not relate at all to the promise made to his wife. And would have loved to see the sister who showed such strength and character to be developed into more.

Great
Not exactly the traditional storyline type by A. Amerrican and G Micheal Hopf but a great post apocalyptic thriller for sure.

Wimpy character
Tobw hi est I disnt like the story at all. Neal's character was the fact that all died except him and then how he kept acting ridiculous. Also what's this crap anouy leaving America to go to an island that's joy thay big with no idea how they'll be with a little girl who has no experience on a boat which is to big for one person to sail. Then passing the Chinese fleet sorry did not enjoy it at all. The other problem is the fact that as I was reading the series it would lead me.to each book so I would read it in sequence then it's stopped and I can't find the order again

WONDERFULLY INSPIRING READ!
In HOPE:A GOING HOME NOVEL, two of America's finest post-apocalyptic authors have created a novel that's imbued with a bit of intrigue, tragedy, and despair. But more than anything else, it fills the reader with . . . Hope. Almost predictable in its outcome, we see sisters Charlotte & Hope seized from their family only to be befriended by one of their captors. But when tragedy strikes and the girls are separated, big sister Charlotte thinks of little more than saving her younger sister Hope. Meanwhile Neal & Carlos, longtime friends working desperately to survive the new reality also are beset with tragedy. Only one of them survives. As the other, as well as both men's families meet an untimely death due first to cartel members & then an unknown illness. The survivor funds young Charlotte, who wants nothing more than to rescue little sister Hope. And this is where it all comes together for one & all. Sorry, I've given away far too much already. But I will say that this little novel left my heart filled with joy. Lacking in tactical scenarios & radical combat scenarios, but filled with the promise of redemption for those who seek to do the right thing, it was a nice departure from all the doom & gloom so common in the genre. And I enjoyed it immensely.

A great start. This is a collaboration that works well
A great start. This is a collaboration that works well. This chapter of the story is almost all about laying the groundwork for subsequent installments. As with other titles by both authors this is an easy and quick read. There are some twists to the regular formula for this genre and I was genuinely surprised by some of the events. This is a wonderful expansion of the Going Home universe an I hope that these and possible other continue to build upon the foundation built by A American in his Going Home series. This is a world that has many stories to be told. I know that these writer will not disappoint.

Two Best "SHTF" Authors Collaborate On Another Great Book
Two of the best authors in the SHTF genre got together and came up with a great book. It felt a little short to me, but that could just be because I read it in two sittings. It would have been one if I didn't have to go to bed last night. If this were to be the beginning of a new series I would have expected a little more details in some places, but I have a feeling it's meant to be just a look at the life of someone else in the world the two authors have created. And that's what's cool about the work these guys have put out: It could all be various stories about the exact same event just told from different perspectives. There were some very touching moments, and the beginning of Chapter 11 really hit a nerve. And to me that's the indicator of a good book: Does the reader find themselves caring about what happens to the characters ? And I did. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Also, a couple plot points had me thinking about what we would do if faced with those same scenarios.Overall a great job by my two favorite authors of "end of the world" fiction.

A Going Home novel???
If this is a Going Home novel I don't see it. There is nothing Going Home about it. No relation to the GH storyline in any way? No guns to speak of. No roadblocks. No gun boats, technical trucks, fortresses, bombs, battles, ambushes, etc... Incompetent hero. Child victim. What is GH about this book? The EMP? I guess that's the linking idea? This is at best a sad tragedy. Very boring for a TEOTWAWKI novel. Not up to GH standards. The GH books teach you a lot about prepping and firearms. No such information here. This book will teach you nothing except what not to do. A. American please stick to the GH standards and keep away from stories like this. I'm looking forward to reading book 7 of GH. I hope that will renew my faith in one of my favorite authors.

Very disappointed... money back please!
Just finished this book. Low star rating because1. Had 311 pages but story is only 262! 50 pages dedicated to other future books!2. 12$ for a short story way over priced3. Dialogue is terrible. At beginning 6 yo talks like a baby using words like "dada" then near end talks like an adult4. Story seems very rushed at end.. DisappointingI really enjoy mr hopf books but this one is trash...Recommended? NO... overpriced short story
