what size do I need to screw 2by4?

When working with a 2X4 that is 1 1/2" thick you will want to use the 2 1/2" length screws.

Will these work to edge join 5/4 deck boards and can i use the foreman to drill the holes or do i need the HD jig?

For 1" thick lumber, you will want to use the 1-1/2". The Foreman does not have a setting for 1". You could use the 3/4" setting and the 1-1/4" screw and you will still get a good strong joint.

Mine say 1 1/4 inch and that's what they measure. The page you are looking at shows where you can order 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch sizes, but in my experience the size on the box is the length of the screw.
