Can you still use the charging base when it is installed on the speaker?

Yes, there is a small slit in the silicone for the charging port. The cover fits fairly well and has provided adequate protection for my speaker. The front is not as tight fitting as it could be, but works for me. I have used Poetic covers on tablets & cell phones and they are very well fitting with thicker bezels on the edges, so I may not be the best reviewer based on a comparison based on experience overall for general products and more aggressive products. Hope this helps.
