I've always shied away from something made out of particle board or something similar. After opening the box my feelings about particle board were reinforced as the shelves were broken in half due to poor packing. The sides sandwiched the shelves thereby leaving a huge gap in the center.We received 1 unit of 2 ordered, but the second shelf unit is to arrive later in the day. If I had to bet I'd lay odds it's going to have the same fate.Sorry... but it's back they go and I'll just build them myself!To be fair... my ratings maybe skewed because:Easy to assemble - I didn't even try to assemble the unit.Value for the money - maybe, if only I could have been able to assemble and use the bookcase.Sturdiness - once together possibly... unfortunately no chance testing strength or sturdiness.The veneer used is nice and I'm sure it would look good assembled.

The package arrived this morning. Thanks to a UPS guy, the heavy packages were brought into my house. Although they were not entirely scarless, I understand the difficulty of transporting such heavy packages. Fortunately, the scars are on the hidden side. After lunch, I started assembling them. It was easy, taking 30 minutes for each one. And Voila! Such stylish and beautiful bookshelves!---with a reasonable price. I really love them and highly recommend them.

The bookcase itself is great. Assembly was fairly simple and it's sturdy. When we received it though, the packing was incredibly banged up and the bookcase has multiple damaged areas. 150 bucks was a lot to spend to get a damaged product.

This is an excellent bookcase. Delivery was prompt, and while the packaging was a little tough to open, I had almost no difficulty otherwise. Instructions are very clear and all of the parts slide easily into place. I was even able to build the whole piece alone, although I wouldn't recommend this for safety reasons. The construction feels solid and both the wood and finish are of surprisingly high quality. The neutral, minimalist style also looks great in any room. You'll be proud to store your books in this case - and they'll be proud to call it home!

I have several of these Billy bookcases that I purchased at Ikea many years ago. When I decided to expand my library and wanted to order more of them, I found to my dismay that Ikea has discontinued this model. I was so happy to see that they were available of Amazon. The seller shipped them in excellent packaging, and they came in pristine condition. However, the extension pieces as described in the ad were missing. I contacted the seller and they apologized and immediately shipped out the missing pieces. I am very happy with the bookcases and would definitely buy from this seller in the future. Picture reflects 2 larger and 1 smaller bookcases.

Honestly, you can buy these directly from IKEA for $80 each. Excellent product though but...IKEA!!!!

This item was damaged prior to delivery but sent anyway. I paid 5 times what I would pay at IKEA because they don't deliver it anymore and I can't fit it my car. I was willing to pay it because I need it for a room. Each time it was delivered (twice) the side panel was shattered. I swear they re-sent the first one as it had the same tape marks from when I sent it back. I bought to previously from IKEA when they are delivering it and they packaged it much better and had no issues. They look great! Get from IKEA - pay someone to pick it up and deliver it (maybe UHAUL)
