Superman vs. Shazam

Holy Moly, the story's full of holes!
I bought this for issue 46 of Power of Shazam and All-new Collector's Edition 58 , only to find it is an utter letdown with very inconsistent writing, artwork and characters.I'll run through the issues present:All-New Collector's Edition 58 sees Superman clash with Captain Marvel (later named Shazam, even though that is the Wizard that granted Billy Batson his powers) and their respective enemies Black Adam and The Quarrmer (Sand Creature Superman, from the excellent Kryptonite Nevermore book). The art isn't great and the writing is very of-the-time and quite juvenile. I bought the book primarily for the Quarrmer appearance, which didn't really go anywhere, followed by some cringe-inducing, saccharine sweet scenes at the end. This is followed by DC Comics Presents issues 33 and 34, which are well-drawn, but involve Mr Mxyzptlk and Mr Mind. I've always found the former character too much like Marmite in his pre-Crisis appearances. This is followed by issue 49, which again features Black Adam in one of the better stories featured. This is followed by the Doctor Sivana story from DC Comics presents annual 3, with art by Gil Kane. The biggest failings, however, are saved for the next issues. We have an out-of-context Kingdom Come issue 4, which, if you don't own that series, or haven't read it, will make absolutely zero sense. It's also far too gritty and dark of mood for the rest of the stories presented here. It is also cut/edited and only printed in part. This is followed by The Power of Shazam issue 46, which is basically cut in half and missing the latter half of the story, involving the Rock of Eternity, which is another issue I bought this for. It also references and hark backs to earlier issues of the series which are relevant to the story, but are also missing. The book also features Superman issue 216, about a possessed Superman. It is part 3 of a 3 part story, which will make zero sense to you, if you haven't read the rest of this story.I find it strange the collection is missing the Shazam appearance in the early Man of Tomorrow issue, or the fact the actual first battles from Justice League of America 137 from 1976 or All Star Squadron 36 and 37 from 1981.They could have even included Superman 276 from the mid 70s, where Superman took on Captain Thunder who was basically Captain Marvel by a different name. This collected edition lacks context and is just a cheap cash-in on the (terrible) Shazam film. One to avoid. Please note, I include a picture of the final page of Power of Shazam issue 46, to highlight how the story is cut off well before the end.I have returned this book to Amazon for being only a partial collection, not as advertised.

Not bad, but I can think of a few better battles they've had
It's a good book but there were a few other more intense battles supes and captain marvel have had.

Well Done
I liked it. I thought it would be one story, however it was a collection of different stories. Very Good.
