disappointing publication quality
I just received this book. I haven't read it yet and my review doesn't concern the quality of the content, which I'm sure will be excellent. But I was very disappointed by the quality of the edition itself. The cover, binding, and paper make it feel more like a magazine than a book. It just feels flimsy. This is sad from Duke, ordinarily such an excellent publisher of extraordinary works in theory.

wonderfully told
Reading McKittrick is like sitting on some sacred land with soul sisters around you nodding, clapping, crying and even dancing because someone has been able to hear about the difficulties some of us face when we try to tell our stories and recover our a past that is not easily recovered. That's just how much we have been silenced and overlook. Take your time with this one. Share it with people who do not even look like you. Insist that they understand the effort required to get all of our stories out there.
