They're supposedly satisfying...
I have no idea why these things are, but my 9yo LOVES them and wanted them. They came in several tiny bags separated by color, and we now have several bowls full of these things now that they've been rehydrated with water. I legitimately do not know what the point of them is, other than they are a distraction to my kid if she walks by them on her way to doing something else. She cannot resist dipping her hand into the bowl of these colorful little blobs of pointlessness. She says it is "satisfying". Want to know what is satisfying? Getting your teeth brushed and school clothes on in time... but nope, feeling these little faux orbeez is apparently the real definition of satisfaction. So if you are lacking some satisfaction with your life, get these, and all will be right again. Or something...

Fun for sensory play!
I purchased this set for an alternative to a fidget while watching tv or talking on the phone. They take up more attention than that but work just fine as water beads regardless of your needs. These hydrate to marble-sized beads, so they aren't the little tiny ones. I prefer this size for play. The enclosed instructions weren't much, and they were in metrics, but they were about right. It was something like a cup and a quarter of water to each bag of beads. It took almost six hours for the beads to fully hydrate. My order contained two packets of yellow beads and one packet of the other colors shown. The bags are tiny (like matchbox-sized), and each one contains a separate color. I did all of one color the first time to see if the directions worked. For real next batch, I did a mix. If you have a scale, I would just mix all of the colors together and divide them by weight to figure out how much water to add. These do end up with pastel colors, not bright. The first batch I made is still going strong after almost a week of daily manipulation. (I store in water when not using and change it daily. I guess you can allow the beads to dry out completely and then rehydrate them. I haven't tried that yet.)I did a thorough search on Amazon and found this item to be a good choice for a reasonable amount of water beads that weren't too expensive. Other than the colors not being bright, I'm happy with them. I saw on Pinterest that you can put food coloring in the hydration water to brighten these up. If that works, I'll order these again. The picture I'm attaching to this review shows two of the ten included packets of water beads after they have been hydrated.

Looks deceiving but definitely an abundant amount
Okay, so I felt the need to write a review! So, at first I saw the small bags & was thinking “wow they are so small, what can I do with this?” But I let one bag of beads sit in water & they blew up in size! I let them sit for a few hours & i’m amazed what one bag can do! So, for the price you pay, you definitely get your money’s worth! I am very happy with the purchase!

Fun, therapeutic, calming, weird, so cool!
I ordered these for my daughter after she saw them in YouTube videos. I was prepared for a mess but she's very careful. I ordered two of these, and in total they filled one side of a double sink. I'd say about a gallon and a half total? Hard to tell. Anyway we "activated" them on Christmas Day, and within an hour they were already getting huge. After just 3-4 hours they were the size of marbles, and I was addicted to the feel of them. They remind me of mini water balloons, or squishy jelly beans. Very calming to play with. Kept my 4-year-old busy for HOURS. Well it's a week later and they are still good! I added more water as they sucked up a bunch and if they start drying out they shrink. I added a teaspoon of bleach to the water they were in to keep things slime-free. Some have broken, and we just pick out the broken bits. When they break it's just like a jelly blob. I plan on having a pool party this summer with these guys as the main guest! So much fun!!!
