A necessary tool for DIY VW owners
I have only had my 1999 Volkswagen Beetle for a month. It has the 2.0 non-turbo four cylinder with the 5 speed stick shift transmission. I am a Do it Yourself (DIY) maintenance guy. At some point, I will need to replace the spark plugs on the car. With my other cars, I could just grasp the ignition/spark plug cables at the boots with my fingers, and pull them off. With Volkswagens, you need a tool, like this one, to hook up to the hooks on the boots to pull the spark plug cables off. When the time come for me to change my car's spark plugs, I'll already have the tool necessary to pull the boots off.

Worked
Just what I needed to clear the coil rubber from the sparkplug.

Design defect.
I was able to get my ignition wires off the spark plugs with these but it wasn't easy. The groove on the tool was too high to catch the tab on the wires so I could never get a lock. There luckily ended up being enough friction from the rubber on the boot to get them off. They did help a lot for install of the new wires though.

Avoid if using for 2.0 MK4 VW
I’m going to save you guys the headache and saying this won’t work for a MK4 2.0 Volkswagen. This isn’t a substitute to the dealer tool, matter of fact it wouldnt even grip the plug, and when I got it to grip it, it did pull of the plug, however, I couldn’t get the plug off this. I swear to god it was impossible to get it off. Just please take my advice and avoid this if you’re buying this for this job. It may work for other engines but it WILL NOT work for the 2.0 MK4 engine.

Without this spark removal boot tool this job would have taken a lot longer.

Needs grinding, angle grinder. To work
If you don't own an angle grinder or something thin blade like a diamond blade i used. Dont buy. Complete joke. Critical error in manufacturing probably by kids who work for food. Disgusting. 2003 vw jetta 2.0 gls. Thank you kindly. 3 stars off for ignorance not doing it right in the first place.

Muy buena calidad
Te ayuda a cuidar los cables que en ocasiones salen delicados al solo estirarle.

Excellent Tool For VW Spark Plugs
Used this tool on my 08 VW City Golf 2.0L.For the most part it's simple to use pulling the coils off the plugs safely. The only awkward part seemed to be with cylinder 2 and 3 under the intake manifold because the way the wires sit in the clips, and the angle required to grab without twisting them. Just needs a bit of patience!
