Everything I needed to know to get started in Vermont
I'm new to New England and was looking for a well-laid out, easy to follow book so that I could learn about gardening here. Bought several books and this is by far my favorite!

Great book
I got this out of the library and ended up buying my own copy. Informative, good pictures, helpful advice for New England gardeners.

Turned a hopeless case into a real gardener!
My husband bought this for me as a gift and I was thrilled. I'm very intimidated by gardening and have had little to no success. This book has just the right amount of information and photos. Not overwhelming, but still extremely useful. I learned I had so many perennials right in my yard that I could actual take advantage of. I didn't spend a dollar on flowers. I divided what I already had with confidence from this book! I got a lot of positive feedback about my garden this year, but most importantly, I feel empowered and excited about gardening.... Something I wasn't expecting

Great for the novice gardener, probably useful for an experienced one too!
LOVE this book! Very simple and easy to read. I’m a very novice gardener so I love how everything is clearly labeled and has sections for different plants as well as recommendations for care and companion planting. I learn something new each time I open it!

I think Charlie Nardozzi could have done a lot better. (Sorry
I think Charlie Nardozzi could have done a lot better. (Sorry, Charlie.) On one page he says that a plant has some herbal use but he can't remember what it is. Well, look it up before publishing! On another page, there is a reference to a page in the book that was left with XXX's rather than the page number -- sloppy editing. And those two irritants were encountered in a cursory flip-through after purchasing -- who knows what other bummers are lurking there. Charlie Nardozzi becomes a favorite for every VT gardener who listens to VPR, so of course I would buy the book, and indeed I've already found some valuable tips there (as well as the irritants). But really, send the book through another round of editing -- weed it out! -- and it could be something better than "just OK."
