DK The Coffee Book

Like most DK books, this is a high quality book. Carefully curated content, beautiful drawings and pictures, excellent hard binding, average quality paper (but still acceptable). It's a book a doctor could leave in the waiting room of his/her practice to keep patients busy and happy while waiting. It covers a very wide range of topics and feels more like an encyclopedia in style, without dipping into the details only a barista to be would be interested in. I think this is this book's strength and its weakness.For example, in the section about brewing espresso, it contains two photos of a cup of coffee and explains that the one with crema covering the whole surface of the coffee is well brewed while the other with very little crema isn't, but falls short of explaining why you may not get enough crema and how you can achieve the better brewing.It's a book to widen your horizons in terms of what else there is in the world of coffee that you may have never heard of, but you won't find enough information to help you master your coffee making skills.I would recommend this book as a light reading, for encyclopaedic knowledge. I'd order a separate book for developing barista knowledge and skills.

Really nice and clear details

Chegou muito rápido. O material é de excelente qualidade, as folhas são mais resistentes e de capa dura. Tem muito conteúdo interessante e as ilustrações são demais. Excelente para quem quer se aprofundar em barismo e ao mesmo tempo desenvolver o inglês (digo pois sou brasileira e não sou fluente em inglês ainda). Aborda desde os locais e seus tipos de grão de café, como preparos, avaliação sensorial do café, latte art e etc. É meu livro preferido até agora.
