Inexpensive, Lightweight and Durable!
This thing has been a godsend. I bought this to help me get by while I waited for my hip replacement surgery, and since I am fairly active, ended up using it mostly as a way to get laundry through the house, groceries out of the car into the house, load large bags of animal feed on it instead of using a cart, and much more. I moved from one state to the other, and although I had movers, they left all the boxes in the garage, so I used my rollator to move one box at a time inside the house to the room it belonged, and was able to settle in my new house by myself. The bar comes off, which allows me to put larger items, like ice chests, or plastic totes (I just used it this weekend to move Christmas decorations stored in plastic totes, to my house) and you can stack them and glide easily if you have hardwood floors. It even moves on carpet pretty well. The handles are adjustable and the photo shows them fully extended, which was a little high for me, but it did allow me to rest my elbows on and slump over a bit and keep pushing but I figured out that if I lower the handles all the way down, it is a much more comfortable and natural position and I walk straighter. The curved bar comes off, as does the pouch which is attached by snaps, so you can make this walker look a little more streamlined and less clunky. I am in my 50's and had to carry this thing with me everywhere, so I didn't want to feel like I was walking around in a nursing home! The brake mechanism is something I never used. But I guess it is nice to have it you feel like it is getting away from you.Since I'm on the go all the time, I needed something that I could easily load in my car by myself. This is super easy to flatten by grabbing the handy strap attached to the seat and pulling up on it, which closes the frame, and it is very lightweight so I store it right behind my seat upright in the backseat. It did not fit in my trunk but storing it in the backseat makes it so much easier to load and unload. My father has a rolling walker and his is much more clunkier and heavier, and loading it in the car is a chore. This one is super-easy to put in the car.And last, but not least, I like the color to this. It is a metallic blue and looks like it's more of a color of a bike frame than a walker. This walker, which started out just to be something I would use temporarily, has proved to be a valuable way to cart things through my house and I will probably continue to use it as a caddy long after my hip surgery is over! It is so darned convenient!
