Darco International Hi All Purpose Boot, Small, 1 Pound

This boot has been great for healing my broken toes. The big toe is a complete break and 2 others are cracked, so it's going to take some time to heal and will be too swollen to get into a regular shoe for a while. So many orthopedic shoes and boots leave your toes hanging out, but this one covers them. I wear a 6 1/2 - 7 women's shoe and the small boot is plenty big enough for wrapping and padding to fit inside. The straps are removable, so getting the right, comfortable fit is easy and quick. It's lightweight and I can wear a thick soled running shoe on my other foot and it's almost level. It has a rounded bottom, so I can walk almost naturally. I work a job where I'm on my feet and moving all day and this shoe has made that possible.

I ordered the small because the sizing said it would fit up to size 10 women. I'm a size 8 and with the pins and bandages I felt this would work, but my toes came right up to the top. Since my pins were in the front of the toes I wanted the extra room that this should have brought. I already have an open toe boot but wanted extra protection. I also bought the cast cover and that is great. At least I'm able to use the boot I already had and not worry about the snow.

I have a broken 2nd toe. I am using a full boot outside my house to keep from bending and putting pressure on my toes. I was hoping this would keep me from bending it around the house. Unfortunately this shoe still allows me to put pressure through my toe, so I will just continue hobbling around in the house and use my full boot when I am out.If you only need the shoe, this is well built and I really liked it. Keep in mind for me, my toes were very near the end and I wear a size 7.5.

I wear a 7.5 narrow foot, and have a fractured 5th metatarsal and the doctor said it is ready to migrate from the Aircast boot to this shoe. I was stunned to find that though the small supposedly is up to women’s size 10 it barely went past my toes. But it apparently is designed for a much wider foot than mine because even when strapped as tight as possible (top strap a good 6” past the last Velcro latching point), my heel still raises an inch off the sole when I take a stride. A sturdy flat hiking boot allows less movement.So it was immediately returned and back into the Aircast I go.

This was the only boot I could find that protects a severe/broken toe injury. It protected my painfully sore toe/foot from my 7 month old attack kitten and all the normal daily obstacles. My doctor’s office complimented me on how great it was and asked where I got it. I definitely recommend it. It’s easy to adjust but also stays on and is comfortable. It made my recovery so much easier. Definitely get this!
